Application

Application Rules:
-Certain characters canonically have great influence over dimensional travel (such as Yuuko from xxxHolic or one of the Data Integration Thought Entity humanoid interfaces from Haruhi Suzumiya, i.e. Yuki and Ryoko) will have a greater influence in the setting than normal, or are just extremely high-powered and can potentially affect the game in major ways. Playing one often requires some special plot integration, and require a player to have established themselves by playing another character before they will be accepted.

-AU settings are generally allowed on a case-to-case basis, but no more than one of the same character can be a permanent member of Planeocracy. If the AU is significantly different and established (such as the Genderbend of Haruhi Suzumiya) then it is generally allowed, as the characters are different enough from the main source to be distinct. Apping an AU character uses the standard application procedure, but if the AU doesn't meet our requirements, we may deny them on that basis. Here are the qualifications for if your AU is acceptable:

1. Significantly different from the source material. Minor tweaks to history and/or personality don't make an AU different enough to really be worth accepting for us. For an AU to be accepted it needs to have something major different to differentiate it from the canon.
2. Internally consistent. In most cases you'll be coming up with the AU yourself, so you need to make sure it all makes sense within the setting. So, if something changes, the whole setting obviously has to change as a result, and we need to know how.
3. This isn't absolutely necessary, but if at all possible the character will look at least somewhat different from their canon counterpart. This is primarily to help differentiate if we have both.

If you are thinking of apping an AU of a character, please get a hold of all potential castmates as well as any person playing the same character (if this is applicable). This is required for your application to be accepted.

-Original characters are permitted, they use the same application form but require far more detail as far as background and setting. If they are a part of an existing canon, they cannot have any ties to actual canonical characters or visible connection to events (attributing events in-canon to the character that are otherwise unattributed may be permissible but is generally discouraged). As with canon characters, you are limited to two OCs, even if the OCs are from different universes. Planeocracy canon originals can use any of the settings posted in the setting information post that specifically say they are open, and must conform to the general concepts of the world. It is HIGHLY advised to speak to the mod team before making the character, these characters can be rejected automatically if they do not follow the general concepts of the established world.

-You may only have one application in queue at a time. If you would like to submit a second app, you must wait until your first has been processed.

Application Template:
Looked over the community? Brushed up on all 31,561,021 Confuto Ordinatio rules and regulations? Filled out all your forms in triplicate? Looks like you're ready to get that Gate Key! Just fill out the following form and submit it to the Executive Subcommittee of Other-Planar Affairs! That Gate Key should be yours in 5-7 business days!

The following is an alternate form that can be used in place of a musebox sample post. It takes the form of an application and interview as if the character were applying for a job. Respond to the questions in-character, if you or your character doesn't know what they're asking for indicate it in some way. The character can lie if doing so is in character, but indicate they are doing it by writing "[LIE]" before the answer to the question.

Ouka Midarezaki

[identity profile] meganefather.livejournal.com 2011-08-06 04:22 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Albiel
Character Name: Ouka Midarezaki
Canon: Kyouran Kazoku Nikki

Background: Ouka's parents died when he was three years old. Many characters would be traumatized by such an event, but Ouka got over it after being enlisted into the Great Japanese Empire Paranormal Phenomena Bureau of Measures at the age of seven by Dr. Hell (Yeah, I guess agencies in that universe don't really require prior experience. Or puberty), where he met Shiruku Kirisaki, also known as 'Shinigami'. Though their first encounter involved an unhealthy amount of punching, they eventually became good friends. It could definitely be said that Shinigami developed feelings for Ouka during this time, though Ouka only returned them in the form of constantly going on, for lack of a better word, dates with her.

Flash-forward twenty years. Ouka is now Squad Captain of the... do I seriously need to write the title again? Even copy-pasting it seems inconvenient... Anyways, he is intensely dedicated to his job and has a sense of justice that stops a random catgirl from stealing food from a fruit stand. Except, the catgirl wasn't random at all; she was waiting for Ouka to appear so that she could begin an operation Ouka's organization was planning. They never really state why it had to be Ouka. Probably because his name ends with 'ka' or something. Apparently, nobody told Ouka about it because the Bureau is filled with jerks.

Anyways, a basic summary of the plan is to gather all the descendants of a monster called Enka, each one of them holding the possibility of one day destroying the world, putting them in a family and observing which one is the most likely to snap and go all anti-Christ. Each one of this family members, save for Ouka, had their full name changed to something ending with '-ka Midarezaki'. Among Ouka's 'sons' are a cybernetic Predator-like killing machine (Hyouka), a lion (Teika) a jellyfish (Gekka), an innerly depressed girl (Yuuka), and an openly gay man that is attracted to him (Ginka). So, yeah, you can kind of see life kicking Ouka on the face for a great part of the show.

The rest of his part of the show is Ouka pretty much going along with everyone's schemes and problems. One thing he remains consistent on is not allowing any member of his family get hurt, going to the extent of beating a mad scientist, staging a heroic rescue and taking down a mafia family for them. He also takes on the role more and more as time goes on, stopping his dates with Shinigami (But still remaining her friend (Even though Shinigami really, really tries for him to be more)) and going on vacations with them. He also drops the Japanese honoratives for all of them, which is really something when you consider he still uses them with Shinigami, a friend from twenty years ago. At the end of the series, an alien girl called Oasis falls in love with Ouka, which puts him in a very complicated position. This problem makes his family start losing their trust in him, despite Ouka not returning Oasis's love (at least not in a romantic way). The issue is quickly resolved when Oasis returns to space. At the very end, Kyoka leaves the Midarezaki household so she can search for her original home, though Ouka willingly sees her off and, holding absolutely nothing against her, says that her true home will always be with her family. It can be safely stated that Ouka kept taking care of his family after Kyouka left.

Setting Information:

Earth
Kyouran Kazoku Nikki

Ability Changes: As long as it's not anything too specific, abilities will stay the same. General things like energy weapons and mind-control are fine.
Ability Limitations: There are people with the capacity to destroy the entire world. People who at no point have been confirmed as supernatural are able to launch sword beams. Basically? Go. nuts.
Form Restrictions: Humans! Robots! A variety of different aliens! Youkai(All kinds of youkai!)! Santa! Demons (which take the form of animal ears capable of possessing people)! Actual demons!
Social Restrictions: Alternate universe. Japan is called the Great Japanese Empire, and has a much higher sphere of control, expanding all the way to Africa. Little else is mentioned about the rest of the world, but it's mentioned in passing that America's filled with spirits. If you're an alien, you'll be kindly escorted out of Earth by the Bureau (I'm not kidding. Guys are pretty cool about the whole thing). If you're any other kind of non-human being, you'll be forcefully relocated into Soraborne, a special city for such, which isn't that bad, really, if you don't mind never going to the outside world ever again. That one duty is managed by the city's guards, not the Bureau. However, if you're a monster too big and/or chaotic to manage, it won't take long until you actually get an appointment with the Bureau's agents/Shinigami (the latter being . It's implied that Japan has an Emperor ruling over it, but he's never mentioned again. The most influential organization is the Paranormal Phenomena Bureau of Measures, which are pretty much the FBI for supernatural stuff... which, in KKN's world, pretty much makes you the actual FBI. They have complete control over Japan, able to mobilize it into a city-fortress, or send operatives wherever they deem necessary. Curses, though existent, are illegal, and prosecuted by the Bureau. On that topic, many operatives of the Bureau are implied to be racist themselves, treating anything abnormal as subhuman. Also, it's 2063. Enjoy that (It's actually not that futuristic at all, though).
Notes: Warning: This Kyouka-sama. Warning: References everywhere. Warning: No rationality allowed.

Portal Location: Midarezaki household.

Personality: At first glance, Ouka seems to be your average person. Calm, collected, highly aware of how to be polite and act around people, etc. He’s pretty much completely stable, considering the guy lost both parents at an early age, spent the next twenty-something years with a mild addiction to work and was then forced to marry someone with a completely different personality to his or face the end of the world. It was being raised by a mad scientist that probably made him shift from caring about family so much and focusing on his job. And focus on his job he does. Ouka married someone for the sake of an operation, and pretty much went along with it when a highly-known terrorist took over the Bureau.

Ouka is also a considerably responsible individual. Not only is he able to keep up with all the paperwork he’s assigned, he also finds enough time to do pretty much everything for the family. The moment he goes sick, the Midarezaki household becomes an oversized dumpster. His responsibility does not stop him from showing a sillier side from time to time, as he occasionally starts to really get into Kyouka’s schemes. Not that that will stop him from drawing a line when he thinks she goes too far.

Player Name: Prof
Character Name: Zakuro
Canon: Otome Youkai Zakuro

Background:

Setting Information:

Earth
Otome Youkai Zakuro

Ability Changes: All abilities would be represented as magic, often invoked via incantations, or as inherent youjin abilities.
Ability Limitations: Moderate for non-humans, absolute for humans. High-end youjin can be powerful enough to level a building with a bit of effort, but most magic is more subtle.
Form Restrictions: Human or youjin. The latter can usually take human form at will, but default to a more 'traditional' appearance - anything from a humanoid with the head of some animal to a humongous monster.
Social Restrictions: It's the Meiji period, so Japan's taking its first steps towards becoming a member of the international community. Also, youkai are integrating with the world of humans - many humans fear or look down on them, though. 'Youkai' is considered an archaic, somewhat offensive term - the more politically correct 'youjin' is preferred.
Notes: Warning: Westernization. Warning: Children may be spirited away. Warning: Beware of spider.
Additional Information: The immediate area of the portal is the Ministry of Youjin Affairs, a newly-founded establishment dedicated to smoothing human-youjin relations, and also finding youjin who are causing problems for the integration effort and beating them into submission.

Portal Location:
A chest of drawers in the Ministry of Youjin Affairs.

[identity profile] childoforacles.livejournal.com 2011-08-12 07:19 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
While Zakuro was born of a human father and a youjin mother, she steers clear of the trope of being trapped in between two worlds. No, she sits firmly on the youjin side of the fence, having been raised entirely by them, and doesn't consider herself even partly human. In any issue that has a human side and a youjin side, she'll almost always stand against the human viewpoint. When youjin cause trouble for humans, it takes quite a lot of extenuating circumstances and convincing for her to actually fight to protect the human peace.

Which is not to say that she's entirely an asshole. Even from her tilted viewpoint, there is such a thing as evil on both sides - a monster that kills and eats women and children, for example, would get dealt with swiftly and without mercy. Indeed, straightforward brute force is Zakuro's go-to solution to almost every problem. She's capable of identifying situations where it won't help, but not often capable of coming up with anything better; quick thought and wisdom are not her strong points. She finds trouble, she stabs trouble, and if she can't, she falls back on letting someone else do the hard thinking.

When she's not distracted by violent tendencies or standing up for the rights of her half-people (and she usually is), Zakuro does have some hidden depths worthy of exploration. In youth, she was extremely close to her mother, who she hasn't seen since she was very young. Losing her mother at an early age (her father died before she was born) is a major factor in her fierce independence and self-reliance, and her mother's legacies are present in her often-reluctant attempts to give peace and understanding a chance, and her tendency to try and force a smile during difficult times to keep other people from worrying about her. She's very reluctant to really open up to anyone, including friends.

Zakuro is fiercely distrustful of all the various things and ideas that came from overseas into Japan. In her mind, everything can be categorized as either "traditional Japanese good things" or "everything else", and the former category is getting smaller with each passing season. She resists trying new Human Stuff out of pure spite, and when she does try something, she's either very vocal if she doesn't like it (cow milk, western clothing) or very reluctant when admitting praise for something she finds she doesn't mind at all (cookies, shoes with heels sharp enough to stab other people's feet). One particular weak point of hers is the western sense of shamelessly flirtatious flowery wooing romance, which easily throws her off guard, and can lead to poorly-formed opinions of people.

Abilities and Powers:
Zakuro's powers aren't hugely impressive in the grand scheme of things - she's faster, stronger, and acrobatic than a human, and can sense intense nearby magic. Her primary combat ability comes in the form of what appears to be a branch from a cherry tree, but she can turn it into an enchanted blade that can cut through things that a normal sword would be useless on - most notably magical or armored monsters.
While that isn't the limit of her powers, everything beyond that is sealed by a pendant she always wears for personal/plot reasons - she might take it off as many as one time in the game. When unsealed, her strength, speed, and blade's cutting power all increase, and she can also call forth a red rain that causes harm to enemies but does nothing to her allies - however, the effect is relatively minor, like dense but weak danmaku.

Reason for Joining: Curiosity, mostly. Also, it's a break from the crap she has to put up with back home.

Position Desired: Agent

Point in Canon: Beginning of series.

Stein 1/2

[identity profile] soul-surgery.livejournal.com 2011-08-21 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Prof
Character Name: Franken Stein
Canon: Soul Eater

Background:
http://souleater.wikia.com/wiki/Franken_Stein

Setting Information:

Earth
Soul Eater

Ability Changes: Some characters will gain the ability to turn, partially or completely, into some form of weapon. Others will be able to use them to channel their soul's power and perform attacks. The third available category is Witches, capable of using their power directly moreso than either Meisters or Weapons. Witches can often transform into an animal.
Ability Limitations: Minimal. The most powerful people in the setting can cause havoc on a massive scale, and even lower-level fighters can bust through walls like it ain't no thing.
Form Restrictions: Human or Weapon - see above. In addition, there are confirmed to be werewolves, demons, and something at least similar to vampires, so there's options for nonhumans.
Social Restrictions: Witches are considered the enemy of most of the world's governments, and therefore live in hiding. Death is the world's primary deity, and he lives on the material plane, where he runs a school.
Notes: Warning: Don't eat human souls. Warning: Death is a wacky guy. Warning: Excalibur.
Additional Information: Real world canons don't exist here, but death/skull-themed analogues are common, at least in Death City, where the portal is. Deathbucks, Skullburger, etc.

Portal Location: A bathroom in the halls underneath Death Weapon Meister Academy.

Stein 2/2

[identity profile] soul-surgery.livejournal.com 2011-08-21 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
Personality:
Stein is a man of science. He spends a great deal of time delving into his studies. When encountering a problem, he analyzes and dissects it in a very rational way, no matter what the subject matter. He's not particularly emotional (at least on the surface - more on that later), interacting with the world through the window of the scientific method. He can get carried away with this, though, and end up wanting to dissect and analyze people and things that aren't exactly ready for disassembly.

In addition to being a scientist, Stein is a teacher! He tends to be pretty blase towards his students (or Agents), but actually does pay more attention than he seems to on the surface. One of his biggest talents is reading people - give him some time with someone, and he won't take long to figure out what it is they need to improve themselves. Part of this comes from his soul perception abilities, but some comes from the fact that he's just very good at understanding other people. After all, growing people is as much use for experimentation as growing plants or lab rats...

Stein is something of a comedic deadpan. He has a sense of humor, but it's very hard to see at times, because it's shrouded in layers and layers of emotional detachment. His completely flat delivery of 'jokes' combined with his tendency to joke about things he would totally do in reality make it hard to tell if he's being serious or not.

Also, let's not mince words: Stein is out of his mind. But only sometimes! There is deeply-seated madness growing in the back of his mind at all times, and once Medusa 'dies' it only intensifies. He starts seeing thing, and is constantly seized by an almost overpowering desire to cast aside the rules of society and experiment to his heart's content. He is aware that these are bad thoughts, and that he is in fact going crazy, but rather than report it to the authorities (he IS the authorities! He's a doctor!), he tries to hide it as best he can, and constantly asks himself how long he'll be able to hold out before the madness takes him completely.

Abilities and Powers:
Stein is a Meister - he fights using a Weapon, most commonly a scythe. However, he's powerful enough that even without one, he can directly use his soul wavelength to attack, sending spiritual attacks through his bare hands that bypass armor to damage the enemy's soul.

When amplified by a Weapon, Stein becomes much more fearsome - in addition to being able to attack directly with great force, it also amplifies his precision, allowing him to fight like a true intellectual. His most notable ability is his Soul Sutures - by merely striking an enemy with his wavelength, he can project spiritual stitches from their body to fasten them to the ground or wall. At maximum power, he can use these to completely paralyze a target, but only while maintaining physical contact, and he can't move himself while he is doing this.

Reason for Joining: He wants to dissect it.

Position Desired: Enforcer, Medical Corps

Point in Canon: End of episode 5.

Notes: Stein may be getting dangerously crazy after a few canon updates. Plot may result.

Tohru Adachi 1/3

[identity profile] studiedmyassoff.livejournal.com 2011-08-22 08:31 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Albiel
Character Name: Tohru Adachi
Canon: Persona 4

Background: http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Adachi

Portal Location: Still in the TV World.

Personality: Adachi belongs to the Fool Arcana, and not without good reason. Like the protagonists, he seems fully capable of putting on a mask accepted by society, usually passing himself off as an incompetent, overworked detective. He's prone to joking during these times, and acting like some sort of ally of justice when attempting to catch perpetrators. It's nothing more than a mask, however. Adachi is an irredeemable psychopath who takes joy in the suffering of others, taking every opportunity to do so that won't result in him getting caught. He's filled with resentment towards pretty much everything, and will not hesitate to swear at and even murder people, if given the chance. He does use his fake persona (not that kind) to his advantage though, being perfectly willing to feed people lies if it will lead them through the path he wants.

Adachi seems to have a very self-justifying personality. Unlike the Scoobies, he's unable to recognize that his lack of success in life may be due to his own incompetence. It is due to this that he seems to peg society down as unfair, willing to provide opportunities only to those who were born with talent. He seems to have a thing for drama, assuming the mannerisms of a villain all too willingly. Then again, one could assume from the maniacal laughter he let out that his insanity eventually overpowered his desire to look smooth and calculating. However, the moment someone tells him to shut up, he'll take time to put himself above them, throwing a 'calm down' and a condescending remark his way. He seems particularly spiteful towards people younger than him, stating that they don't know anything about the world and thus have no right to speak. While moderately good at planning, many of his moves throughout the game relied on luck, and he did slip up several times.

He seems to be a little... what's the word for it... repressed. When donning his fake personality, Adachi will never comment on the attractiveness of any woman he comes across. That does not mean he didn't try to rape one (perhaps two) of them. He's very much a misogynist, claiming women to be gold diggers with little to no basis for his claims.

In regards to the main theme of the game, Adachi is very much willing to close his eyes to the truth in return for complacency. He attempted to transform the entire world into Shadows merely so that they wouldn't have to worry about their problems. Perhaps it was due to a desire to no longer be a failure, or perhaps he simply wanted to have his one big success in the form of doing away with humanity. Both interpretations are fully in line with his character.

He does seem to have the slightest bit of respect for his superior, Ryotaro Dojima. In the entirety of the game, he takes many opportunities to complain about how he's overworked by him, and is certainly not above poking fun at his character, but once the detective actually calls for someone to help him, he seems to show genuine remorse.

2/3

[identity profile] studiedmyassoff.livejournal.com 2011-08-22 08:32 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities and Powers: One can assume that Adachi's fairly competent with a gun. Not an expert, probably, but being his sole reason for entering the police force, it seems like he'd have taken quite a few opportunities to use it.

This is not his main power, however. His real strength lies in his ability to use a Persona, with an appearance not unlike Souji's. Magatsu Izanagi, the corrupted incarnation of the Shinto god, is capable of using spells such as Ziodyne (electricity), Garudyne (wind) and Mudoon (instant death). A full list of his skills can be found here: http://megamitensei.wikia.com/wiki/Magatsu_Izanagi. It should be noted that, inside his world, Adachi's not able to manifest his Persona anywhere but in the TV World. Even so, he's not particularly good at using it, being infamous for being the weakest boss in the game. This is most likely due to him not having nearly as much experience at fighting Shadows.

Reason for Joining: Beats jail. Definitely beats Nowheresville.

Position Desired: Agent. So much.

Point in Canon: Right where the last Adachi left off.

Revmir Kostovich Volkov (OC) 1/??

[identity profile] robindaybird.livejournal.com 2011-08-25 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: (An alias or online name is perfectly fine)
Character Name: Revmir Kostovitch Volkov
Canon: The Faithful Beast (OC)

Background: Revmir was born one year after the start of the October Revolution to members of the Bolshevik Party, his father was among the men who assaulted the Winter Palace. As a very child, Revmir grew up during the tumulus period of Civil War and vicious political in-fighting amongst the various factions that was clamoring for power, and witnessed the carnage of people fighting in the streets, his eldest brother was killed by the anti-socialist White Army, and his father lost his leg in the same attack. This left a marked impression on Revmir, who was horrified by the idea of Russians killing Russians and vowed to make a difference – to make sure there will be no more internal strife, and decided that he wanted his country to be better.

As he grew up with the state-run education designed to eliminate illiteracy, the country started to settle down as Stalin grew into power. He joined the army as soon as he was old enough and passed the rigorous training easily, and this brought him to the attentions of morally dubious doctors and officers who will do anything to get an edge. Revmir was called into the office of his commanding officer, and told that there was a secret project in the works to turn ordinary men into super-soldiers and asked if Revmir wished to volunteer, citing that not only will he help his country but his parents will be given preferential treatment in employment if he goes through with it.

Being the patriotic young man that he is, he agreed immediately and was taken to a secret lab in Leningrad to undergo – frankly, horrific - experiments and tests, and even the use of peasant magical rituals were employed in hopes of finding that miracle breakthrough that the ruling party was demanding. Eventually, he was injected with wolf’s blood thanks to Trofim Lysenko’s fraudulent scientific studies claiming that such a transfusion would give people wolf-like qualities. Normally all this would have done is to make Revmir very sick, but it so happened that the wolf blood was the final component to an incomplete ritual performed on him the previous night, and he transformed into a wolf right in front of their eyes.

The experiment was cautiously deemed a success and he was monitored for signs of instability. The men learned that for one night of the month he became a much more powerful, but completely uncontrollable monster. Even this set back was just considered another perk as Revmir was told to lock himself up on those nights, but if he was on the battlefield to just walk to the enemy camp before sundown.

Once the experiments and training was completed, he was given his shipping orders: Train in Leningrad and go to Finland to fight “the fascist clique” that rule the country.

Setting Information:

The Faithful Beast

Ability Changes: There are two main types of abilities: Occult, and Xenotech.
After 1944, The American special ops use advance technology gleamed from an alien wreck – mainly cloaking devices, power armor, and energy weapons, and only the Americans have Xenotech. Before 1944 these don’t exist.
The Soviet Union, England, and Germany went to the occult and transform human soldiers – Werewolves who can change form and shrug off injuries, Channelers who can view places remotely with near pin-point accuracy, and “Spooks” who can walk through solid material and destroy electronics with a touch.
Ability Limitations: Medium. Xenotech and Occult powers are rare due to the difficulty of creating both and are generally only in the hands of the military. But the Werewolves and wielders of Xenotech can cause massive destruction.
Form Restrictions: Human, Werewolf, Channelers, or Spook
Social Restrictions: War World II is in effect so travel is restricted and highly dangerous
Notes: Warning: Werewolves in Moscow, Warning: Ghostapo, Warning: Lunar Lunacy, Warning: The Truth is out there, Warning: War is Hell, Warning: The Winter is Cold, Warning: Stalin loves you, sing these words or you’ll know what he’ll do.

For the most part, History is the same as it is on Earth except that folk magic actual worked but most of the knowledge was lost during the witch-hunts and plagues that ravaged Europe up until the 19th century. Aliens started to appear at that time to observe the growth of human knowledge, focusing primarily on the Americans due to their vast uninhabited regions that allow them to experiment without being noticed.

During World War I, during the mire of the trench wars, scientists on both sides turned to all kinds of dubious studies to break the stalemate. But the breakthroughs came so late and the secrets quickly stolen and assimilated among all the major powers that it made little difference in the outcome of the war.

As the second World War geared up, the nations were much quicker on the ball and more guarded with their research – Spooks and Channelers appeared first, giving sabotage and tactical edge to the nations that developed them first – Nazi Germany and England. Soviet Russia created the first Werewolves, augmenting their sheer numbers with raw physical might and higher durability.

The Americans skewed the Occult as useless fairy tales (and dismissing the reports) and turned elsewhere, looking at the mysterious objects flying in the sky. Once a ship was shot out of the skies near Los Angeles, they sent a team to recover the remaining pieces to reverse-engineer, progressing much slower then the Europeans but in exchange they have far more potential tools at their disposal, such as full-body armor that will stop anything short of a tank round, small devices that allow agents to telepathically speak to each other without being overheard, and more or less ray guns and laser pistols.

Personality and backstory are fine, I would like to a testrun since she's not very verbose in her interview but I won't require it. There are, however, two major things I'm going to need before I can approve this.

One, I note you've mentioned the character will never gain the full powers of the Ravager. This is good, otherwise I would have to reject it outright. That said, I am going to need a fully detailed list of not only her current abilities but her future abilities, to the fullest extent that she will attain. In general, note how we don't allow Transcendent Republic or Syltherian characters. That's a good baseline for the level of power we'll allow on an OC.

Two, I'm going to need a lot more detailed information on the setting, it's extremely vague right now and doesn't give me a good idea of what is going on in it. I'd like a detailed history of the Ravager incident, you can talk about what the local folklore says but I need some details on what went down, and I need more detailed info on how abilities, fantastic creatures, and whatever integrate within the setting and how widespread/powerful they are.

As Floogy's app is under revisions right now, we will be pending this app until those revisions are made.

A thing to note: Under no circumstances will be allow characters with an absolute immunity to anything. As such, Akkiko's lie detection power can work in some cases, however, there will be methods available to PCs to override it. NPCs will also have this possibility.

Fluttershy | My Little Pony

[identity profile] zferolie.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: zferolie/Aj
Character Name: Fluttershy
Canon: My Little Pony: Friendship is magic.

Background: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Fluttershy

Setting Information:

World Name
Canon Name Equestria
Ability Changes: None
Ability Limitations: None
Form Restrictions: Everyone is either a pony, or an animal if someone is already part animal. You have 3 types of Ponys: Earth, Pegusus, and Unicorn. There may be sea ponies as well.
Social Restrictions: It is run by Princess Celestia and her sister Princess Luna.
Notes: Everypony needs a cutie mark, unless you are young. The Cutie mark should refelect either a personality trait or something they are good at.
Additional Information: http://mlp.wikia.com/wiki/Equestria
Portal Location: In Fluttershy’s Garden.

Personality: Fluttershy, like her name, is very shy and soft spoken. She startles very easily, even by her own shadow if she is scared already. A leaf falling on her back causes her to fall over and play dead when she was already scared about going to a dragon. She is not very good with new people, and tends to cower a bit and speak very very softly. First meeting Twilight Sparkle resulted in her barely mumbling her name to her, and looking away shyly. Even when she is normally talking, she speaks softer than most.

Fluttershy does open up more when around her friends, but she still is prone to being interrupted, or ignored because of how quiet she speaks. When frustrated, her yell is very quiet and cute. However, she can burst into loud cheers when she is very happy. She can be assertive, but most of the time she quickly apologizes. She also doesn’t like to upset her friends, so will do stuff she doesn’t like to make them happy. Like when she was a fashion model, she was not enjoying it, but kept it up because she thought that Rarity wanted her to do it.

When Fluttershy gets angry, it’s like a whole other pony. She becomes much more aggressive, talking down and scolding whatever made her made, even if it’s a large dragon. When she is like this, she can scare even the fiercest creature, forcing them to apologize and be nice. When her friends were being attacked by a dragon, she flew up to it’s face and started to scold it, saying it was a bad dragon, and the dragon was very intimidated by her.

Fluttershy also has the stare, which can bring even the fiercest creatures to their knees. She out stared a Cockatrace, and stopped it from turning her to stone, and forced it to change Twilight Sparkle back to normal. She says she does the stare unintentionally, and it only comes out when nothing else is working, and if she needs to calm down, or get something to listen to her. When her chickens were running around scared, Fluttershy used the stare to instantly calm them down, and force them back into the hut.

Abilities and Powers: (Summarize the stuff your character can do. Note: characters with extremely high power levels and the ability to affect things on a high level cannot be apped as a first character)

Reason for Joining: She was told she could meet many new animals here, so she quickly joined.

Position Desired: Agent

Point in Canon: End of season 1

Setting Information:

Earth
Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Ability Changes: The only source of abnormal power in this world is Magic, usable by magical girls and witches. It is, however, capable of accomplishing nearly anything, in nearly any form.
Ability Limitations: The sky's the limit, in theory. Power is related to fluctuations in hope and grief - for this reason, the most powerful magic-users are girls in mid-puberty. Guys can theoretically use magic, but it's not as common or powerful. Overusing magic, though, can cause you to turn into a non-sentient Witch.
Form Restrictions: Human.
Social Restrictions: Normal Earth.

App processing too hard? Make a contract with me

[identity profile] meguca-factory.livejournal.com 2011-09-10 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:
The thing to understand about Kyuubey is that he is an alien. His thought processes have very little in common with that of humans. Incubators barely experience what we think of as emotions - when they do, it's considered a mental disorder. This is why he finds humanity so fascinating - to Kyuubey's kind, the notion of living and coexisting in a society in which everyone has their own differing feelings and beliefs is almost unthinkable. The Incubators are something of a hivemind, so even the concept of an individual identity is beyond his (although he has no real gender) understanding.

In short, Kyuubey is almost impossible for humans to relate to, but he feels the same in the reverse. Despite his apparent lack of emotions, he almost seems to be frustrated by the seemingly arbitrary value humans place on things like the location of their soul. He's more than willing to discuss any apparent unreconciliable differences in worldview, even if he can't actually understand what the other side is thinking on more than an academic level. He talks, he asks questions, he picks at the logical holes in beliefs not founded in logic.

Even greater, though, than Kyuubey's difference from humans in terms of emotional range, is his difference in terms of scale of thought. Kyuubey always, ALWAYS considers an issue from the biggest big picture he can. His job is the prolonging of the end of the universe, and it doesn't get much bigger picture than that. He's extremely dedicated to this job, and while this could be seen as a virtue, there are some unsettlingly severe prices he's willing to pay to get it done. After all, when the universe's lifespan is at stake, what price WOULDN'T be worth paying?

Sentient lives are far from being beyond Kyuubey's list of viable sacrifices. To this end, he'll eagerly let people make decisions that will end in tragedy and suffering, even helping them along, if it will help him meet his quota. Agreed to a bad contract? Your fault for not confirming the terms of the agreement more carefully. He claims to be unable to understand the concept of malicious deception, but that could be just another layer of deception. Whatever the morality or logic behind his actions, Kyuubey earnestly believes that he's doing the best thing for the universe he lives in, and wishes that the girls he leads astray would believe it, too.

Abilities and Powers:
Kyuubey's primary ability is the power to grant wishes. This is a pretty complex process - the scale of a wish that can be granted is related to the amount of despair the wisher is destined to shoulder, so those with truly operatic destinies have the potential to, with the right wish, even become a God. The price for any wish is the transformation of the wisher into a Magical Girl (or Boy, theoretically), whose soul is removed from their body and placed into a soul gem. This allows the magical girl to generate power violating the laws of thermodynamics, thusly allowing them to fight witches AND reducing the amount of entropy in the universe.

For himself, Kyuubey's powers are rather limited. He has no offensive abilities - he's capable of teleportation, however, and can create more bodies for himself if his original is destroyed, making him next to impossible to kill permanently. He communicates exclusively through telepathy.

Reason for Joining: Kyuubey's only interest is protecting the universe.

Position Desired: Enforcer

Point in Canon: End of episode 9.

Notes: Kyuubey won't be doing his usual game of turning people into magical girls, at CO's request. This can either be assumed from the start, or be established by an NPC (or PC Councilor!) the first time he tries it. I'm cool either way.
Will not be introing until after the event.

Player Name: Shini
Character Name: Kuja
Canon: Final Fantasy 9

Background: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Kuja#Story

Setting Information:

Gaia
Final Fantasy 9

Ability Changes: All magic get divided into four forms, Black Magic that are mostly status effects and attack magic, White magic that heals and protects, Summon magic that calls out Eidolons to assist the summoner, and the blue magic of the Qu who can copy the powers of those they ate.
People with sufficient power, or get pushed into the right emotional state can “Trance” – increasing their individual abilities several fold. What it improves varies from person to person but is generally what they’re good at (Magic for mages and physical strength for a knight for example) – the state of Trance is unreliable in its appearance and duration.
Ability Limitations: The potential is unlimited – limitation is very low.
Form Restrictions: Anthromorphic animals - chiefly Burmeican Rats, Humans, Qu, Moogles, Dwarves, and Black Mages.
Social Restrictions: Humans dominate the world except on the southern Continent where it’s mostly the Dwarves who remain. The rats keep to themselves, the Qu are isolationists. The two biggest kingdoms are on the verge of war, and Black Mages outside the village are view as mindless anamatrons.
Notes: Warning: Annoying games, Warning: Mist, Warning: Don’t use fire on the tree, Warning: Oglops Warning: Don’t cheat on witches

Kuja 2/?

[identity profile] dramaticreaper.livejournal.com 2011-09-18 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Kuja is vain, narcissistic, and an egotist. Due to his position as Garland’s Angel of Death, he views himself as superior to other people especially in terms of Magical Power and worth, even to the point where a world where he does not exist is utterly inconceivable. Once he is in a position of power and sure of his plan’s success, he sees no reason why he shouldn’t tell someone how exactly he’s going to royally screw him or her over – so they know exactly how powerful and clever he is.

His vainglorious antics is really a cover to hide an inferiority complex caused by being told pointblank – repeatedly – that in the end, he was replaceable and worthless once his job was over. Naturally he wants to prove he’s neither, and will try to present himself as perfect, attempting to get everyone’s respect. If he’s ignored, or worse dismissed he flies into a rage, lashing out at the offender verbally – tearing them down in order to alleviate the sense of injury he has over the slight. Beating down others with ‘weak magic’ is another means to prove himself worthy of respect, and even his eye-catching clothes is just another way for him to get people to pay attention to him.

Kuja despite his ego and desire to prove himself is actually a clever man. If it’s to suit his long-term plan, he can for a time successfully clamp down on his desire for attention to act as the perfect servant – though he won’t hide his contempt for them when the subject is out of earshot or no longer useful. He’s remarkably adaptive, observing setbacks as opportunities (once the initial rage fades) – such as seeing a Moogle Trance as a realization of how to achieve this state himself, or Garland hijacking the Invincible as an chance to kill his hated creator.

He also seems to have a knack for telling people what they wanted to hear – just enough to tempt them to some shady action. However he won’t push them, preferring to just give people a rope long enough to hang themselves with and seeing if they will actually do it. Kuja is dismissive of people who claim he has some kind of mind control power.

The Genome conducts himself in a theatrical style, modeling himself after Shakespeare Lord Avon’s greatest villains and other nefarious figures from plays. He is naturally poetic, using metaphors and figurative language to express his thoughts even when he’s by himself. Kuja knows damn well what he does is villainous, and decided that if he’s going to destroy the world; he might as well have fun doing it.

Abilities and Powers: Kuja is an extremely powerful Mage – when fought in-game he is shown to have the highest tier elemental magic as well as Curaga the highest healing spell, Holy (an unusual spell choice for a villain), Meteor, and his signature move Flare Star. Outside of battle Kuja can be seen using Sleep on Garnet so it’s safe to presume that he has access to the entire list of Black Magic with only some White Magic.

Using the Invincible and some rituals by Thorn and Zorn he managed to essentially steal Eidolons to be used by non-summoners like himself but as he only used them in a few key scenes, suggesting that either they take quite a bit of focus to activate or they got limited use for a non-summoner. While the Invincible is in Kuja’s control, he can enslave other people’s Summons without the arduous task of extracting them from a summoner’s body.

Kuja also shows himself to be a capable engineer, creating The Black Mages, and the Mistodon enemies he set on Zidane’s party. He is shown to command thousands of Silver Dragons but it is unknown whether he help to create them or they are natives of Terra he own control over in a method unknown.

He also can hover freely but rarely does since it’s a ‘waste of effort’ to use against those weaker then him. In fact, he generally holds back on his power, preferring not to use more then what’s absolutely necessary.

Reason for Joining: Well he can’t very well have some uncouth idiot destroy Gaia (he has plans you see)

Madoka Kaname | Puella Magica Madoka ☆ Magica | 1/3

[identity profile] sugarvoice.livejournal.com 2011-09-23 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Berri
Character Name: Madoka Kaname
Canon: Puella Magi Madoka ☆ Magica

Background: A summary of the episodes can be found here (http://wiki.puella-magi.net/Episodes) and my personal 1-10 summary for Madoka is here (http://fatedmagica.livejournal.com/580.html).

Portal Location: In the park: Madoka found the portal while joining Mami on a witch hunt one night.

Personality: Kaname Madoka seems to be a completely normal girl. She is cheerful and simple, with a casual interest in love letters and looking cute that doesn't go too over board. Her personality can seem just as simple and plain and Madoka can come off as a weak willed average girl, but the multiple timelines in her story show that Madoka is a stronger person than she thinks she is; she just needs to realize it.

In all timelines, Madoka is a happy person. She is surrounded by a loving family and happy friends. She may be a bit quiet, but she always does her best to be friendly and caring. In the first timeline, Madoka does not hesitate to befriend the shy transfer student Homura right away. Mami and her quickly become friends, to the point that Madoka is promising to not leave Mami alone. Madoka never once labels Kyoko as an enemy, and is quick to befriend her when the chance arises. Even in the case of Homura in the most recent timeline, Madoka tries to be friendly towards her. Madoka even continues talking to Kyuubey, even once shit has seriously hit the fan because of him.

This may be largely because Madoka is kind and naive. Homura makes a point to state to Madoka that she is naive, and that her kindness is a danger to herself. Because of this naivety, Madoka did not truly recognize any of the dangers of Puella Magi until she was slapped in the face with them. She was told it was dangerous, but did not take it seriously until Mami died, for example. During the instance of Mami's death, we also see some of Madoka's denial; Sayaka sobs tears of acceptance while Madoka just stares in disbelief, and doesn't truly come to terms with Mami's death until the next morning. Madoka wants to believe in the good in everyone and everything and will rarely reach a pessimistic conclusion without some hard evidence.

Madoka Kaname | Puella Magica Madoka ☆ Magica | 2/3

[identity profile] fatedmagica.livejournal.com 2011-09-23 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
In a world where Mami does not die, Madoka contracts and pursues a happy magical girl journey where Puella Magi fight for justice, never noticing any signs that things may not be as happy-go-lucky as they seem... until everything comes crashing down. When things get bad, Madoka is able to finally recognize that she was a child and come to terms with the harsh reality. This is because, while she is a naive person who does not actively seek to find things wrong with life, she is not so stupid that she cannot learn from experience.

Madoka also has a strong, naive belief in everyone getting along and working together. This belief inspires her to want to make a Puella Magi duo with Mami, to ask Homura to look after Sayaka, and to never hate Kyoko, even after she engages in a life or death battle with Sayaka. She does not take sides in a conflict either; even when Sayaka was being attacked by Kyoko, Madoka could not bring herself to side with her best friend or Kyoko. In one timeline, when Homura reveals the truth of Soul Gems, Madoka never directly aligns herself with Sayaka's belief that it is a lie, even though her actions suggest she doesn't believe Homura. Again and again, Madoka is very sensitive to all sides of a situation, and supports peace and dissolving conflict without violence. Even when Madoka does form an opinion of her own, she is not always confident in it. She tries to get Sayaka to consider befriending Kyoko, but when Sayaka shoots that down Madoka just shuts up and starts rethinking things all over again. Madoka constantly looks for compromise and does not want to have a conflict with anyone, and is weak-willed enough to sometimes bend her opinion to avoid trouble.

This is because Madoka is an observant person, who typically ends up watching rather than acting. That much should be plain and obvious, as observing is her entire role in the show. Though she may seen like a clueless ditz based on all of the clueless faces she makes, Madoka is the type of girl to think things through. She is slow and uncertain with her decision making, and as a result, rarely commits to a decision. This has already been hinted at, because Madoka does not pick sides in a conflict, but just thinks both sides through and never says who she supports. She tends to sit on the fence throughout the whole show, her biggest decisions being to run away. When Mami dies, Madoka runs from the Puella Magi world she's just seen, even though she seemed almost ready to make a choice.

Madoka doesn't observe and decide alone either. When she's trying to decide something, Madoka will not hesitate to talk to people about it. She is generally in control of her thoughts and emotions, or at least trying to be. When Mami dies, Madoka avoids a major emotional break down until she is about to talk it through with Sayaka. Until she has a chance to deal with them properly, she makes an effort to put a lid on her feelings and act normally. When Sayaka contracts with Kyuubey, Madoka takes some time to think it through before she decides to accompany Sayaka on a Witch-Hunt, when she could have immediately asked. She also has many instances of discussing things with her parents and of chilling on the rooftop and talking deep talks with Homura and Sayaka.

Though she’s fairly intelligent, her grades average out to merely mediocre, and she doesn’t actually participate in any of her school’s clubs. However, Konata’s two passions in life, video games and anime, are enough to utterly eradicate any illusions of normality that she may have built up. Due to her father’s influence, she’s become a hardcore fangirl who finds it difficult to prevent references to either subject from seeping into her everyday conversations with normal people.

Konata doesn’t have very many preferences where anime and video games are concerned; she leans heavily towards RPGs similar to Dragon Quest and Super Robot Wars along with a wide spectrum of dating sims. She’s also good with with fighting games and rhythm games, though, and often gravitates towards the relevant machines when she goes to arcades. Of course, thanks to her dad, Konata is familiar with the classic mainstays of the 8-bit era, so she’s decent with platformers as well. Konata’s tastes are even broader where anime is concerned; she claims that she isn't a huge mecha fan, but she's definitely watched a lot of famous classics both new and old. Chances are, if it's recent, popular, or really high-quality, Konata's probably watched it.

While she’s a night owl and a shameless procrastinator, Konata is also an expert at cramming the night before any given exam, assuming that she cares enough to do so. Getting Konata motivated isn’t too hard; all you need to do is to press the right buttons, namely her utter obsession with anime and video games. For example, she took on a part-time job at a maid cafe in Akihabara to raise funds for her next buying sprees at annual Comiket conventions and, with the fate of her next gaming console on the line, raised her grades enough to net herself one of the newest ones on the market.

Konata stands about a head shorter than most of her friends, which is something that’s bugged her for a while now; she claims that she hasn’t grown an inch since sixth grade, perhaps because she inherited her looks from her similarly-diminutive mother. On the other hand, she’s not above taking advantage of her diminutive stature to, say, get the children’s rate on movie tickets, and she’s also taken a perverse sort of pride in being flat-chested (“it’s a status symbol!!”). At the same time, she’s old enough to legally buy adult games never mind the fact that she played all of her dad’s games before she WAS old enough, making her something of an oddity among her classmates.

Konata often makes dorky references during normal conversations, either hinting at anime and video game tropes (calling her computer a tsundere, for instance) or outright referring to various series (whether or not anyone else understands what she’s talking about). Despite all this, Konata remains an outgoing person. She DOES have a mischievous streak, and she enjoys poking minor fun at people just to get a rise out of them (especially where Kagami is concerned); on the whole, she’s content to chat it up with others over various subjects, ranging from life’s little oddities to the correct way of eating chocolate cornets.

Valerian (part 1)

[identity profile] axe-man-v.livejournal.com 2011-10-17 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Vertigo
Player AIM: Sir Eggylot
Character Name: Patriarch Valerian
Canon: Diablo II

Background: Valerian is a member of the so-called “Barbarian” tribes that inhabit the Northern regions of Sanctuary. He, in particular, is from Harrogath itself, the city built atop sacred Mount Arreat. When word came to Harrogath that Diablo had been killed beneath Tristram, Valerian celebrated with the rest of his people. However, that message was quickly followed by another series of messages about demons still running amok, and even a Dark Wanderer who was rumored to be Diablo reincarnated. With his people's blessing, Valerian descended Mount Arreat and fought his way through the world of Sanctuary always chasing, and never catching, the Dark Wanderer. His quest took him into the depths of Hell itself where he fought and killed Diablo, smashing his soulstone. When Baal, the Lord of Destruction was released, Valerian made his way back to his homeland and slew the last of the Prime Evils, inadvertently destroying Harrogath in the process. Several years have passed since then, and Valerian and his Rogue partner Paige have retired to Lut Gholien, but the urge to explore that he cultivated on his quest never left him...

Setting Information: http://diablo.wikia.com/wiki/Sanctuary

Ability Changes: None.
Ability Limitations: There appears to be no upper limit of Magic in Sanctuary, but given some creatures ability to withstand damage up to a small meteor falling on them, it is unknown how much of an advantage technology would be.
Form Restrictions: There are lycantropes, though they are rare. Other than that, there are a host of semi-civilized monster species in the world, to say nothing of the demons, which seem to have an endless variety of shapes and sizes.
Social Restrictions: Much of the world is still operating on “there are demons everywhere” status, and so greater-than-normal emphasis is placed on martial and/or magical strength.

Portal Location: Atop Mount Arreat, where it's very cold and guarded by three armed and angry Immortal Barbarians.

Personality:
Valerian at first comes across to most people as an angry and probably highly dangerous man. The combination of his large size, prominent facial tattoo, and a face that seems permanently set in some sort of scowl tend to mean most people who cross his path do so quickly and without bothering him more than they have to. He is only slightly bothered by it, however, as he has always been a rather taciturn man. His trip through Hell and subsequent inability to verbalize the things he saw there (and the occasional lack of sleep brought on by dreams of Hell) only intensified his apparent anti-social demeanor.
For those who do take the time to get to know him, Valerian is actually a rather pleasant person. He will laugh and joke just like anyone else. He is also quite selfless, willing to sacrifice both his time and money for a higher cause—the qualities that played a major part of his being selected to represent the barbarians in the fight against Diablo.
For a time after leaving Mount Arreat, Valerian was also quite the misogynist. The inability of the Rogue sisterhood to defeat Andariel on their own, unfortunately, only proved to him that his notions were correct. Not long after he met up with the sisterhood, he was assigned one of their number as a helper—a young archer named Paige. He initially treated her with a marked lack of respect, but after she proved time and time again to be able to hold her own, his opinions started to change. After the better part of a year, he realized that at some point he had begun thinking of Paige as a equal, and realized that his opinions of women were flawed. However, it is still something he struggles with on a nearly-unconscious level that will likely take years still to deal with.
Valerian's largest character flaw is also one of his greatest strengths. He is unfailingly confident in his own abilities. This has lead to a great many victories won by charging into demon lines with his weapons drawn, but has also nearly gotten him killed on more than one occasion.

Part 2 because I hit the text limit, apparently.

[identity profile] axe-man-v.livejournal.com 2011-10-17 03:47 am (UTC)(link)

Abilities and Powers: He has displayed a superhuman resilience to both physical injury and to fatigue. This is due in part to his experiences in fighting Diablo's (and later Baal's) minions and also because of some of the magical equipment he picked up on his journey. He is nearly immune to the elements, both in the scientific and magical sense, as well and shows an ability to metabolize and neutralize most poisons in short order. He has also demonstrated a “presence” on the battlefield that improves the strength, stamina, and health of his team members. In combat, however, his abilities are functionally limited to “hit things with an axe” and “hit things harder with the other axe,” though his axes are capable of stealing life force from any living thing they wound.

Reason for Joining: Valierian has an innate sense of right and wrong and wanted to join a cause that appears to be a force for good.

Position Desired: Agent, but he would not turn down an Enforcer position.

Point in Canon: After the end of Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction.

Notes: Paige follows him on adventures so closely that they almost function as a single character. So unless there is a mod ruling otherwise, it may be easier to keep them both in the same account.

Satou Kuroneko | OC | 1/7

[identity profile] sugarvoice.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Berri
Character Name: Satou Kurneko
Canon: Game of Fate ( original canon )

Background: World History (http://thisismygame.livejournal.com/1025.html) . Game of Fate Magic (http://priceofmagic.livejournal.com/2667.html) . Expanded Personal History (http://priceofmagic.livejournal.com/2955.html)

Satou was a planned pregnancy... a bit more planned than most. Her mother, Horie Fleischertz, planned to give birth to Satou as early as fifty years ago. Back then, the witch Horie lost her entire family during a war period in Germany. While most women might grieve and move on, Horie was a witch. Not uncommon for her world, but having magic has its way of distorting the way you see reality. In this case, Horie thought she could revive her dead husband and daughter.

To do this, Horie needed a lot of power. Her world's magic isn't free either. In this world, using more magic then the magical government MASQ allows results in you paying a price on your magic. This penality is something you value more than anything else. Horie didn't want to pay that price and risk losing her family, the thing she valued most, after reviving them. The other issue with magic was that it was unhealthy to use a lot of magic at once. Horie didn't want to die after reviving her family either.

This where Satou comes in.

Satou, called "Samantha Satou Kuroneko" at birth, would be the tool that Horie used to revive her family. All of the details about her birth and upbringing would be suited to make her the perfect witch. It would be through Satou that the reviving spell was cast, so that the little tool would break instead of Horie.

Horie wans't the only one that wanted to have a super magical battery, though. Vinita Godono, who ran the organization that ruled the secret magical society, wanted to immortalize the system that penalized people for their magic. And Fate Dystini, a former friend of Vinita's, wanted to destroy that system. Both of their goals needed a lot of magic too. Horie played the girls against each other so that they would help to make her child stronger. Then Horie picked the perfect husband (requirements; lots of magic & doesn't know about magic)

The result was Satou, daughter of Horie and Yosuke Kuroneko. The strongest witch in her world.

But she didn't know that. Not even Yosuke knew, for the longest time. It took eight years, but Yosuke did eventually figure it out. He realized that Horie was a magical time traveling witch and he confronted her on the matter. Horie, too, came to a realizaton; she honestly did love Yosuke and her daughter and wanted to start over with them.

So Horie abandoned her plans to revive her family... but Satou was still a magical battery. Vinita was okay with letting the family live happily ever after but Fate wasn't. Horie and Yosuke decided to run from Fate, hoping she'd never find them. They changed Samantha's name to Satou and fled to Japan, where Yosuke had lived. Satou's powers were split in two and half of them were put into Masume Sakura, a fake sister that Horie created to be Satou's "poor orphaned cousin" that the family was adopting.

These changes had their impact on Satou, but the eight year old did slowly adapt to her new name and life. Things seemed to be going fine until she turned ten. Fate caught up with them again and introduced Masume and Satou to magic. She encouraged a magical girl of justice spree where they spammed magic and were penalized a lot for it, though they didn't immediately notice the penalities.

Satou Kuroneko | OC | 2/7

[identity profile] priceofmagic.livejournal.com 2011-11-11 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
This was how Yosuke was murdered by his own daughter.

This sent Horie off of the deep end. But this time, rather than vowing to revive her family, Horie decided she wanted to make everyone who caused the incident suffer. That meant making Fate, Vinita, and even Satou miserable.

Satou's memories were quickly suppressed to avoid a dangerous mental meltdown. Vinita and the MASQ stepped in to try to take control of the situation and handle Satou, who was now labeled "unintentionally dangerous". Vinita explained to the girls that their magic wasn't free and they had a lot of debt racked up. That debt had caused their parents to "forget about them"--- Vinita didn't want to tell them Yosuke was dead and Horie had left-- and they could earn their parents back through work.

To do this though, they needed to be recognized by the MASQ and titled. They were underage but could win a title early in a yearly competition. Both girls entered the contest. But Vinita's intentions weren't all pure. She hired assassins to kill the sisters before they could be used by Fate or Horie to hurt her. Even so, Satou and Masume won the contest. As a last resort, Vinita separated them. Only Masume made it to the awards ceremony and Satou just vanished off of the face of the planet.

Which was not all true. But Satou had used a lot of magic and the result was many people forget her. The price of Satou's magic was her ability to be acknolwedged; her existence. The judges were affected and the entire competition forgot that Satou had ever entered. She was told that even Masume had forgotten her, and all of the friends she'd made. Vinita titled Satou "The Witch of Sins" out of pity and let her work for the MASQ to earn back her right to be remembered. All of the while, Vinita was giving Satou dagerous jobs in hopes of her being killed.

Now 15, Satou lives day by day and struggles to find housing, food, and comfort in a world where she isn't acknowledged. When she isn't doing jobs for the MASQ or being chased by assassins she's usually researching magic to get a better understanding or it. She intends to take an examination to get full-time employment with the MASQ soon.

Eventually, she will be reunited with Shugo. Because him and his family love her so much they never forgot her and she is able to live with them. She will re-establish contact with her best friend Touka Takamachi and continue to deal with her stalker assassin Mikale Godono, eventually earning his respect and adopting him into her family. She will train Shugo to be her partner while fighting off other assassins after her life and slowly piece together the details behind her existence. And lots of other stuff will happen, but I've already spoiled more than I'm comfortable with spoiling so... I'll elaborate on request.

Setting Information:

Earth
Game of Fate

Ability Changes:
Magic is a different concept in Game of Fate. It is derived from genetic gifts, so characters who do not have these genetic abilities cannot use magic. For cross-canon characters, these genetic abilities are best summarized as empathy and magical capacity. If your character has either of these then they will remain while in the Game of Fate world. Chi is different from magic, so don't confuse the two.

You need both of those abilities to be a natural in magic. If you've only got one then there is an alternate way to retain your abilities in this world. You can acquire a device in the world that will make up for whatever you're missing. Buuut devices can only be acquired through the MASQ and respond to a language called Magien.

It looks good for the most part, but you left the Abilities and Powers section empty. If she's got none, then say that she has none; otherwise, fill that out. Once you get back to me with that, you should be good to go.

(Additionally, though it doesn't affect the quality of your app -- the organization is known ICly as Confuto Ordinatio. Planeocracy is just the name of the RP.)

Crono | Chrono Trigger | Not Reserved

[identity profile] silencedtime.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 08:11 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Equilibratum
Character Name: Crono
Canon: Chrono Trigger

Background: http://chrono.wikia.com/wiki/Crono

Setting Information: Represented by Lucca

Portal Location: Crono's house

Personality:
Mostly quiet and taciturn, Crono is the definite silent protagonist of Chrono Trigger as he really does prefer using his actions to explain things rather than just talking about it, as he considered words to be quite the precious thing, and only uses it when it is really necessary, such as whenever he had to introduce himself and possibly other miscellaneous events that required him to speak whenever he is separated from his group members. The rest of the time, he's going to use his body language in order to show what he's feeling, such as pumping his hand up whenever fired up, drawing his sword when pressed or angered and of course, jumping whenever he is surprised.

Contrary to his general quietness, Crono is indeed the heroic archetype that most people tend to recognize whenever they're playing a generic JRPG or watching a general anime; as he can easily gets fired up and will often do reckless things; one of those being beating guards up to escape the prison he was stuck in after being wrongfully accussed by the Chancellor, as well as jumping in the way of a death ray about to decimate his party and taking it without giving a single care about his body should it survive the attack. While he is not that dumb, it is perfectly apparent that Crono's recklessness is one of his good quality, for he won't give up when anything is on the line, be it his friends, or the fate of the world itself.

A hobby of Crono would be to practice his swordmanship whenever the time allows: He enjoys the feeling of doing all these sword moves and thought of them as away to relax after a hard day of traveling or a boatload of errands his mother tends to send him on; while most of the techniques he gained in the journey was pretty advanced for a young man like him, he never trained them as much as his basics, as Crono viewed the basics being really important as they helped him master all those advanced techniques easier, as well as keeping him reminded that even if you have flashy moves, it doesn't matter if you can't execute them properly.

Crono regards his friends with fondness, and would do a lot of things to keep them safe; which is also extended to complete strangers, as him jumping in the time hole after Marle was what set off the entire story in the first place. He views them as comrades that is very important to him, and let me stress this to you; do everything in his power to keep them safe from harm. He will die for them and he will also be their pillar should they be in need of one. Fortunately, though, he does have some degree of self-preservation, even if its not much to talk about.

Crono | Chrono Trigger | Not Reserved

[identity profile] silencedtime.livejournal.com 2011-12-05 08:12 am (UTC)(link)
Abilities and Powers:
-Swordsmanship: Crono is trained as well as talented in the art of swords, which made him a combatant to be reckoned with if one has the fortune or misfortune to meet him in battle. While most of the strikes, thrusts and jabs he throws are pretty basic, they are dealt with quite an amount of power, and could send some normal swordfighters reeling should they not be used with dealing with excessive force put into their attacks.

-Sword Techs: More advanced techniques that Crono has perused over the journey he went through with his friends; while varied, most of them are just the advanced technique he tends to utilize sometimes: Cyclone being Crono rapidly spin slashing his enemies; Cleave, which is just Crono doing a very high jump slash and using the force from the drop to deal twice the damage and Frenzy utilizing Crono's speed in order to make it appear that he's appearing in different places at once while dealing damage 4 times against the enemy.

-Lightning/Holy Magic: A power gained through a creature called Spekkio in the End of Time. This power enabled Crono to use electric based spell such as Lightning 1 and Lightning 2, as well as the very powerful Luminaire, which is just a big burst of light.

Reason for Joining: He's a hero, 'nuff said.
