Application

Application Rules:
-Certain characters canonically have great influence over dimensional travel (such as Yuuko from xxxHolic or one of the Data Integration Thought Entity humanoid interfaces from Haruhi Suzumiya, i.e. Yuki and Ryoko) will have a greater influence in the setting than normal, or are just extremely high-powered and can potentially affect the game in major ways. Playing one often requires some special plot integration, and require a player to have established themselves by playing another character before they will be accepted.

-AU settings are generally allowed on a case-to-case basis, but no more than one of the same character can be a permanent member of Planeocracy. If the AU is significantly different and established (such as the Genderbend of Haruhi Suzumiya) then it is generally allowed, as the characters are different enough from the main source to be distinct. Apping an AU character uses the standard application procedure, but if the AU doesn't meet our requirements, we may deny them on that basis. Here are the qualifications for if your AU is acceptable:

1. Significantly different from the source material. Minor tweaks to history and/or personality don't make an AU different enough to really be worth accepting for us. For an AU to be accepted it needs to have something major different to differentiate it from the canon.
2. Internally consistent. In most cases you'll be coming up with the AU yourself, so you need to make sure it all makes sense within the setting. So, if something changes, the whole setting obviously has to change as a result, and we need to know how.
3. This isn't absolutely necessary, but if at all possible the character will look at least somewhat different from their canon counterpart. This is primarily to help differentiate if we have both.

If you are thinking of apping an AU of a character, please get a hold of all potential castmates as well as any person playing the same character (if this is applicable). This is required for your application to be accepted.

-Original characters are permitted, they use the same application form but require far more detail as far as background and setting. If they are a part of an existing canon, they cannot have any ties to actual canonical characters or visible connection to events (attributing events in-canon to the character that are otherwise unattributed may be permissible but is generally discouraged). As with canon characters, you are limited to two OCs, even if the OCs are from different universes. Planeocracy canon originals can use any of the settings posted in the setting information post that specifically say they are open, and must conform to the general concepts of the world. It is HIGHLY advised to speak to the mod team before making the character, these characters can be rejected automatically if they do not follow the general concepts of the established world.

-You may only have one application in queue at a time. If you would like to submit a second app, you must wait until your first has been processed.

Application Template:
Looked over the community? Brushed up on all 31,561,021 Confuto Ordinatio rules and regulations? Filled out all your forms in triplicate? Looks like you're ready to get that Gate Key! Just fill out the following form and submit it to the Executive Subcommittee of Other-Planar Affairs! That Gate Key should be yours in 5-7 business days!

The following is an alternate form that can be used in place of a musebox sample post. It takes the form of an application and interview as if the character were applying for a job. Respond to the questions in-character, if you or your character doesn't know what they're asking for indicate it in some way. The character can lie if doing so is in character, but indicate they are doing it by writing "[LIE]" before the answer to the question.

Absolute Victory Unlosing Ranger

[identity profile] 50percentthere.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 06:57 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Albiel
Character Name: Jiro
Canon: Z.H.P Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman

Background: If you’ve ever watched a Super Sentai show, you should be familiar with monsters of the week: Those gimmicky bad guys you would see Zed and Rita send down, enlarge and watch as they’re destroyed. You would cheer on the Rangers, who saved the day with no casualties, and be treated to the best rock song to ever grace a children show’s credits. These monsters always put the Rangers on the verge of defeat, yet they’re always taken down, even if they have to divide the episode into two parts. What you don’t see is the effect they have on the average citizen. Jiro and his little sister Choco, who just happened to be these eight years before the story began, were kidnapped by one of these monsters while their parents were neglecting them. The monster was planning to kill and eat his sister, yet Jiro kept getting in the way, even when beaten to near-death. These attempts at stalling the monster are what allowed the police and everyone’s hero, the Unlosing Ranger, to arrive in time. They were also what traumatized Choco, giving her amnesia and rendering her unable to recall what happened. This caused Jiro’s family to believe that he had stood by while Choco was kidnapped, and simply beaten up because he was a wimp. In truth, Jiro had given his all to protect his little sister, but he was still blamed for the entire incident. Eight long years of emotional abuse at the hands of his family followed. His parents never got around to forgiving him for putting their daughter in danger, and his mere existence threatened the survival of their marriage, which caused Choco to hate him as well. He was cut out from their family, only acknowledged when they needed someone to blame.

Elsewhere, a prophecy was revealed, which predicted a ‘Super Baby’ would protect the world while a villain tried to destroy it. The day eventually came, and Darkdeath Evilman, Demon General and all-around douchebag, threatened to end mankind while the Super Baby stalled the televised Armageddon.

Jiro decided that this was the perfect day to get some groceries. On the way back from the store, he witnessed the Unlosing Ranger running towards the battle, ignoring the fact that he was on the middle of the street. After the car accident, the Unlosing Ranger handed Jiro his Power Belt, asking him to take on the mantle of the world’s greatest hero. Whether Jiro says yes or no, he gets but-thou-must’d, and becomes the Unlosing Ranger. With courage and justice in his heart, he sets off to face Darkdeath Evilman and end the tyranny he has brought forth!

He gets punched in the face and dies.

[identity profile] 50percentthere.livejournal.com 2011-01-08 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
Except not really. He gets rescued at the last second by the World Hero Society, which decides to train him so he’ll be able to defeat Darkdeath and protect the Super Baby. To accomplish this, he’s tasked with helping the monsters of Bizarro Earth, a planet on the other side of the Sun where all of its inhabitants have a connection to their Earth counterparts. To put it in simple terms, they’re like their Persona 4 Shadows: their emotions personified. His trainer, an oddly-dressed girl called Etranger, puts him through hell so he’ll be able to stand up to the last boss. He’s also aided by the ghost of the last Unlosing Ranger, Pirohiko Ichimonji. With help from both of them, and the hearts of the world’s people on his shoulders, the Unlosing Ranger is able to bravely venture on and valiantly get the crap kicked out of him.

Once again, he’s transported to Bizarro Earth. What follows is a long series of incidents being resolved by Jiro. After each of them, he goes back to Earth do defeat Darkdeath, but he always gets defeated. Another hero eventually arrives at the scene: Reckless Cop Dangerama. Unlike Jiro, he actually proves to be pretty competent, and is able to put up a fight against Darkdeath Evilman. In an attempt to stop him from hogging all the glory, Etranger Ritafies Darkdeath, making him much bigger and stronger. Not the brightest move ever, but it’s only made more dangerous when the President of the United States decides to nuke Japan to stop Darkdeath. Eventually, Jiro resolves her emotional issues and she decides to back down, but… ends up doing it anyways because she pressed the button by accident.

After another session of training, Jiro goes back to Earth and displays how much of a badass he can be by punching the nuke towards the Sun. This does wonders for his public image, but it doesn’t stop him from getting beat up by Darkdeath Evilman again. That’s pretty much the point he’ll be coming from.

Setting Information:
(Bizarro) Earth
Z.H.P Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman

Ability Changes: None. Go nuts.
Ability Limitations: Earth is pretty normal, so abilities may be restricted to legendary individuals like the Super Baby or Dangerama. Enough training and determination will eventually give you superpowers. On Bizarro Earth, anything is fair game.
Form Restrictions: Earth: Human. Bizarro Earth: Anything but a human.
Social Restrictions: The average citizen is extremely apathetic. Heroes are held in high regard.
Notes: Warning: Die if you have to, but never lose! Warning: Dengeki? In my NIS? Warning: Noting Ranger!
Additional Information: This being a NIS game, fourth-wall breaking is commonplace. Every person will have an Earth form and a Bizarro Earth one, existing at the same time. Earth is almost exactly like real life, but Bizarro Earth is based on a hierarchy of monsters. At the top is the last boss, which is the equivalent of President, or Prime Minister. At the very bottom, you find the fodder characters. Whatever happens to someone in one Earth will happen to his Bizarro counterpart, and vice-versa.

Player Name: Prof
Character Name: Alice Margatroid
Canon: Touhou Project

Background:
http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Alice_Margatroid

Portal Location: Alice's pantry.

Personality:
Alice is a youkai magician, but a relatively young one at that, and one who used to be human. Accordingly, she still retains a lot of her human habits, such as eating and drinking. Most of her time, however, goes towards her own research. She has a reputation for being a bit creepy - if you visit her home, she won't make any conversation, and instead just sits around making dolls. By all accounts, it's extremely unnerving. She doesn't really know to interact normally with people, since she lives with herself and doesn't often associate with others.

She is, however, by no means a hermit. Compared to most youkai, Alice is on much friendlier terms with humans. This is likely because she was once, comparatively recently even, a human herself. She's known for her hospitality - living deep in the woods, her home is something of a bastion of civilization in the wilderness. This means she gets lots of lost travelers knocking at her door, and her general policy is to let them in. She also sometimes goes to the human village and puts on performances with her dolls, which leaves her being somewhat well-liked by the human populace, in a large-scale sense.

Alice likes winning battles, but she likes it as an intellectual. Her combat style is very tactical and thought-intensive. She would much, much prefer to outthink her way to victory than to brute force a solution. This conviction runs so deep in Alice that she always, always holds back her power in fights, even if it means losing. In addition to meaning that any victory she earns is earned by skill and forethought, it also means that she can always think to herself that it wasn't a complete and utter defeat. If she were to go all-out and still lose, it would ruin her image of herself.

The biggest influence on Alice's personality since she became a youkai has been Marisa. Marisa is Alice's best friend, partially due to them having so much in common - solitary magicians living in the Forest of Magic with a penchant for researching new spells. Beyond that, though, their personalities are total opposites - Alice is the linefacing By the Book Cop to Marisa's happy-go-lucky Loose Cannon Cop. Making this even stranger of a partnership, though, is the influence Marisa has on Alice. When they're working together, Alice's personality changes drastically, and she starts to become more Marisa-like, the two of them snarking their way through the day's adventure and generally causing trouble for anyone in their path.

Reason for Joining: Boredom, mostly.

Position Desired: Agent

Point in Canon: After Hisoutensoku.

Player Name: Rift
Character Name: Battler Ushiromiya
Canon: Umineko no ku Koro Ni

Background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umineko_no_Naku_Koro_ni

Setting Information:

Purgatorio
Canon Name Umineko no Naku Koro Ni

Ability Changes: Battles take place revolving around the "truth", in essence becoming over the top logic and reasoning debates incorporation all kinds of flashy magic and fighting. So in essence, physical power really means nothing here, instead intellect is the key to winning any fight. Generally the two tools one has at their disposal are the red truth and blue truth. The red truth are absolute truths; statement of facts that cannot be lies. Of course, that doesn't mean people aren't capable of twisting the red truth based on their own perceptions. In opposition is the blue truth, which are theories which must be countered and disproved by the red truth, lest they become true themselves. There are a few others as well (gold and purple), neither of which should ever be relevant since neither can be wielded except by certain people.
Ability Limitations: Given the unique nature of "power" in this canon, there aren't really any limitations I can think of.
Form Restrictions: Pretty much anything goes. If you have demons and goat people walking around, I don't see why anything would be strange.
Social Restrictions: Go wild.
Notes: Warning: Beware of trolls, Warning: Everything you do is useless, it's all useless.
Additional Information: For those familiar with this canon, Rokkenjima on the mystery side is a closed box that cannot be entered by outsiders (with very rare exceptions). The entry of any outsider to the island would pretty much be impossible not to notice, either by the actual inhabitants of the island or by the characters observing on a meta level. So I'm limiting entry only to the fantasy side meta world.

Portal Location: Battler's study (formerly Kinzo's)

[identity profile] andtheniknew.livejournal.com 2011-01-15 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Personality:

On the surface, Battler acts like an outgoing and cheerful individual who is perhaps a little bit too relaxed and easygoing. He'll say and do rather absurd and over-the-top things constantly, making himself look rather ridiculous. But to a certain extent, he does this mostly to put on a show for others. While he doesn't enjoy being the center of attention, playing the fool tends to help him bond better with others and get closer to them. He speaks rather bluntly and rudely, rarely holding anything back without my regard for propriety. This does get him in trouble at times, as he often sticks his foot in his mouth and goes a little too far. But overall, this does tend to serve a purpose, as is actually acknowledged at times by others in the course of the narrative. His rude and outgoing behavior makes it easier for him to make friends and also makes him something of a center of attention. He's known to be rather popular as a result.

At times it can be unclear whether this is actually purposeful on his part, or simply how he is. I would imagine it's a little bit of both, as he himself does explain at some point that he entered a phase in his youth where he would deliberately go out of his way to act a certain way to draw attention to himself, particularly from the other sex. While he claims to have outgrown that phase, his actions speak otherwise. Another good example of this duplicity is his fear of shaky vehicles. It's somewhat unclear whether this fear is genuine or manufactured in an order to entertain others with his rather over-the-top reactions to traveling on a rickety plane or an unsteady boat. While the trait seems to be inherited from his mother, it's explained at one point that his mother actually faked this trait in order to draw attention to herself. It's never explicitly stated whether Battler is the same, but it's very possible.

Behind that cheerful facade, however, he is a rather serious individual with a very strong sense of responsibility. Despite his cheerful personality, he holds a very strong grudge against his father for quickly remarrying after his mother passed away, and cut ties with his family; he moved away to live with his maternal grandparents for six years. His relationship with his father is quite strained, although they aren't entirely bad. He undeniably takes after him quite a bit, and emulates him in some ways while simultaneously decrying and insulting his way of living. All the same, he does genuinely mourn whenever he discovers his father dead, so he clearly doesn't outright hate him.

Much like his name, "Battler", he has something of a rebellious nature which is prone to seeking conflict. He rarely shies away from a challenge, which forms the basis of his canon. He has a great deal of pride, and thus will almost never back down and always choose the more difficult path. While it would be inaccurate to say he is fearless, he doesn't tend to let fear affect his decisions much. In the first story, his sorrow over finding his relatives killed is rapidly replaced by anger and a desire to find the culprit responsible, rather than continuing the bemoan what had happened like some others do. He is incredibly confrontational, to an almost absurd degree, even when the odds are heavily against him. This is mostly because when it comes down to it, he has nearly unfailing faith and confidence in himself. Rather than using reasoning and logic to create conclusions, he is fine with stating conclusions first and then constructing the reasoning behind those later. In Episode 6, he is given multiple opportunities to back down when he's been put into a unfavorable position but refuses to do so, even though doing so would have been better for him overall. He is something of a gambler in this regard; he's willing to bet on long odds despite the risks. As a result, he can come off as incredibly reckless... or perhaps he just is.

Player Name: Floogy
Character Name: Lucifer of Pride
Canon: Umineko no ku Koro Ni

Background:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umineko_no_Naku_Koro_ni

Setting Information: Already done

Portal Location: Battler's study.

Personality:
The general outline of Lucifer's personality can easily be summoned up in her title: Pride. She's very arrogant, and looks down on (most) people who think they stand any sort of chance at beating her at anything. She has a difficult time admitting that she has any fault, while at the same time she will probably sneer at the faults of others.

Yet, she is painfully aware that she does have faults. She won't admit to it, but she knows she's actually the weakest of the sisters. So, mixed in with her pride is something of an inferiority complex. She tries to assert her “position” as elder sister over the stakes, chiding them whenever possible and more or less bossing them around. When something starts to chip away at her pride, she starts to get very indignant and likely to loudly protest.

However, as Furniture, she is very loyal to those that she serves. She will do whatever she can to fulfill orders from Beatrice and, ever since he has taken up the role of Endless Sorcerer, Battler as well. Though it's possible for her to be summoned by somebody other than one of these two, orders that put her against one or both of them will likely be met with resistance... if not outright rebellion. In that way, it shows that she is not somebody who will betray her original Masters. Perhaps this could be considered a rare positive element of her pride.

Another aspect of her personality as Furniture is that she is more or less a living weapon. This means that, as long as she is capable of fulfilling the order (since there are actual instances that she'd be physically (or would that be magically?) unable to even attempt to carry it out), she has no qualms about being ordered to kill. She is protective of her sisters and her master(s), but she won't even blink at somebody else being brutally murdered. She can even be downright cruel to others.

Despite all this, though, she has an odd weakness towards certain cute things (re: Sakutaro). Her reaction towards such things... would involve glomping and cuddling, though this seems to be a personality trait shared by all of the Stakes of Purgatory. Most people observing this behavior out loud will be met with protests, most likely.

Reason for Joining: More or less to serve Battler-sama.

Position Desired: Though she would insist that she qualifies as an Enforcer, she's seriously just Agent material.

Point in Canon: Post episode 5.

Interview:

What brings you to Confuto Ordinatio?:
To serve Battler-sama.

What family members do you think were most influential into making you who you are today?:
Since I am the eldest sister, the better question would be how influential I was to making how my siblings are today. ((no, it isn't the better question))

So how 'bout them Tenbraks eh? Eh? Catch the game? 52-7, I told Janice in Accounting, I said "those Balthims, they're just not up to snuff this year," but no, she said "I'll bet you 20 plat they're gonna take the banner." Take that bet I did, she still insists they'll turn it around though. Ain't that a riot?:
*she has no idea what the interviewer is talking about, but-* Yes, I thought the same thing. Though, I would likely have done better.

What inspired you to apply for an Agent Position?:
Agent? Don't you mean Enforcer? As the eldest sister of the Stakes of Purgatory, I have taken the leadership position ever since the creation of the second oldest.

What would you say are your greatest strengths?:
That would take too long to long to list. ((that's a lie))

What would you say are your greatest weaknesses?:
I don't have any, of course. ((that's another lie))

What skills do you think you'll bring to this agency?:
More skills than you even have need of. ((yes, another lie))

Tell me about some of your prior work experience.:
It is not Furniture's place to give details of what occurred on a witch's game board. ((and that's-not a lie))

How would you say your prior work experiences shaped you as a person?:
I would say that I was already suited for my work at the time, so there was no shaping that needed to happen. ((that's... actually not a lie, really, either))

You sound like you'll be a wonderful match, but you know, rules and procedures and all that so I've got a few more questions for you.:
Y-yes, of course. *starting to look a slightly worried because-what if the interviewer decides to press her further on certain subjects?*

Do you have a history of meddling in affairs you shouldn't be meddling in?:
Of course not. Everything I've 'meddled' in was at the order of Beatrice-sama.

Do you consider yourself a hero of justice?:
*she just smirks at that. She's literally served as a murder weapon, of course she wouldn't...*

Have you ever wanted to work for something bigger than yourself?:
There is no greater honor than serving as Furniture.

Looks like I was right. You're a great fit here, glad to have you on board!:
That's only natural.

Almost nothing has really changed since my last Flonne application, so here it is (http://the-overseers.livejournal.com/9876.html?thread=680852#t680852).

The only real change is that I'm apping her as an Agent (my feeling is it fits her better than Enforcer). Also, she won't remember anything from her last term at CO.

Player Name: Shini
Character Name: Darkwing Duck
Canon: Darkwing Duck

Background: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darkwing_Duck . In the series proper, Darkwing is given four, conflicting origin stories, but the episode that also gives Megavolt's origin ("Clash Reunion") is accepted as his real one.

Setting Information:

Earth
Darkwing Duck

Ability Changes: Superscience, Magic, and everything in between has been in display, so most abilities will remained unchanged.
Ability Limitations: Not a whole lot of limitations, but anything truly earth-shattering is pretty rare. Also, the entire world runs on cartoon physics, though people can still die – it just takes some serious intent.
Form Restrictions: Animal people, mostly birds (mainly Ducks), and Dogs. There are others, but those two are the most common.
Social Restrictions: It varies upon location and culture, but
Notes: Warning: Ego, Warning: Lunatic Villains, Warning: He’ll throw… THE SWITCH, Warning: If it has wings, Launchpad McQuack will crash it. Warning: Monster Clowns Warning: Pelican’s Island Reruns, Warning: Death Traps
Additional Information: (This can be a link, or it can be a larger description of the setting at large. For original settings, this section will need to be expansive and descriptive.)

Portal Location: The Roof of a Hamburger Hippo

Personality: Darkwing Duck is an egotist. That’s his biggest and most obvious personality trait – to where humorously in an episode about the inner workings of someone’s mind, the duck’s ego is represented by an unstoppable Godzilla-sized caveduck. He exaggerates his own intelligence and combat abilities and often starts off being supremely sure that he can weedwhack the garden of evil in a snap, only to get trounced – often times his pride is the catalyst to whatever trouble he ends up in. As well as being an egotist, he’s got a tremendous flair for the dramatic – he always has to appear in a billow of blue smoke, reciting his trademark speech, and gets extremely irritated when someone interrupts him, whether it’s the villain, a civilian, or even his allies, though he will stop if the villain is getting too far away, but will grouse about it. When allowed to, he will narrate in a very noir-style manner.

However, he’s not all ego (just a lot of him is) – if he just wanted an ego boost, he would have taken a less dangerous, and more tangibly awarding job such as a television anchor. Darkwing Duck became a hero because he wants to be the good guy; he wants to protect St. Canard from evil. Even when he’s put to impossible odds, and seemingly hopeless situations, he will never give up and keep pushing to punish evildoers. No matter how much it hurts (and believe him, it hurts. A LOT) or how long it takes. In fact, he would later consider giving up everything he knew to stay in the evil Negaverse in order to fight Negaduck and protect the Negaverse Gosalyn from harm, because someone needs to. He also hates the idea of letting other people do the work – not just for his need to be recognized, Darkwing does not want to sit around if there’s something he can do. And he tends to strongly lean towards working alone even when he has Launchpad and Gosalyn following – at first simply because he is absolutely certain they will get in his way, but later on it’s mostly due to habit and preferring that they don’t get in harm’s way.

In fact, he has such a desire to be the hero that until he adopted Gosalyn, he had no need for a civilian identity at all, and through out the series, he is unsure and rather befuddled by aspects of ‘normal life’. For example, he tends to end up going overboard on matters as simple as installing sprinkler systems or coming across as somewhat crazy to Gosalyn’s teachers because he does not know what are 'not normal' conversation topics. And can not for the life of him stand the Muddlefoots – to him, the dimwitted Herb and way-too-nice Binkie are what Civilians are, oblivious people who really can’t understand how things work, or realize how annoying they are.

Re: Darkwing Duck 2/3

[identity profile] tm-bluesmoke.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
And one thing that tends to get overlooked is that Darkwing Duck is indeed very intelligent, it’s just due to his ego he tends to bluff about how much he knows, and underestimate the intelligence of others, so he often gets caught off guard on the first move. There is also the fact that he tends to dismiss supernatural elements out of hand, even with overwhelming evidence due to his preference for everything to be “Logical”. However, he can think on his feet and improvise. and when push comes to shove, he’ll drop all the grandstanding and drama and just get dangerous, especially, ESPECIALLY if Gosalyn is in danger.

And he’s not a big fan of regulations and rules. Darkwing does not like paperwork, and would constantly insult certain S.H.U.S.H members about how they're so rigid and inflexible.

Reason for Joining: Of course he’s going to join, after all they NEED his particular expertise in heroism, detective work, and general coolness.

Position Desired: Oh Darkwing would believe he’s Enforcer material, but he really lacks any sort of leadership quality despite his attempts.

Point in Canon: Early Season 1 of the cartoon – after he gets both Launchpad as his sidekick and Gosalyn as his daughter.

Notes: Darkwing will follow Cartoon physics in CO, so he’s not going to die easily, but will hurt. And while he has the Civilian ID of Drake Mallard, he won’t be using it in the compound.

Player Name: AOB, Annoying Optional Boss
Character Name: Virgilia
Canon: Umineko no Naku Koro Ni

Background: http://umineko.wikia.com/wiki/Virgilia
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Umineko_no_Naku_Koro_ni_characters

Portal Location: The Golden Land

Personality: At first glance, Virgilia is a very motherly type of person. She's the type of person who would always speak softly no matter what the occasion and she always makes it seem as though she tries putting effort in understanding others. Virgilia is always opened to comfort others when necessary and, with her magic, she's happy to conjure up a kettle full of black tea and a plate of biscuits to enjoy together during the discussion. Even in her world, Virgilia tends to be the voice of reason among the lot of erratic witches.

As kind as she is, underestimating Virgilia is certainly advised against. She is just as cunning and manipulative as the other witches. In Beatrice and Battler's third game, Virgilia challenged Beatrice in order to take her name and title of the Golden Witch. She assisted Battler throughout the game, fooling him into thinking she was on his side and Beatrice turned over a new leaf. Virgilia only helped Battler in order to lower his guard and make him acknowledge magic and witches.

[identity profile] not-endless.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Her plan would have succeeded if it wasn't for Ange, Battler's sister, entering the game and snapping him back to his senses. That's not to say that she isn't acting when she seems caring of others, however. Even after her betrayal during the third game, Virgilia remained on good terms with Battler. She still gives him advice as they talk over a cup of tea. Even after Battler became the Endless Sorcerer and the Game Master, Virgilia is perfectly honest in her drive to help him protect Beatrice's game.

She's fiercely loyal to her friends and even welcoming of those that once were her enemies. The Witch of Finite, of course, certainly has her share of flaws. One of them would be the fact that she's much too serious to joke around with. Virgilia easily gets flustered whenever people insist on shortening her name or giving her a nickname. Even when she tries fighting back, she finds that she's unable to be as creative as whoever's playing around with her.

Despite her cunning, Virgilia can easily blunder at times especially whenever the situation isn't favorable for her. She's the type of person who performs only performs well and keeps her cool whenever everything turns out exactly as she expects. Kind and compassionate, although she has her occasional bouts of cruelty like most other witches, Virgilia is easily the most reasonable among most to all of the witches introduced in Umineko.

Reason for Joining: To provide assistance to Battler

Position Desired: Enforcer. Virgilia once had the title of the Endless Witch, reserved only to the rare witches who mastered the endless magic, but even after passing it down to her student, she earned the title of the Witch of Finite. She answers only to Beatrice or, in her stead, Battler and is often times counted on for her hints and wisdom. Beyond that, Virgilia is often times tasked to carry out tasks in the game board to strengthen the fantasy side. In the fourth game, Virgilia carried out the task of keeping certain members of the Ushiromiya family in the prison within Kuwadorian, a rumored second mansion on Rokkenjima, and was given control over the goat butlers and the Siesta Sisters. She is trusted as a tactician, an aide, and a combatant.

Point in Canon: Post episode 5

Notes: Virgilia can take the form of golden butterflies in order to appear, leave, or enter locked rooms. She can also use those same butterflies to conjure various items such as a tea kettle already filled to the brim with black tea, various pieces of furniture, goat butlers, knights, or even weapons such as divine lances.

As the Witch of Finite, Virgilia has the power to recreate broken objects, but she warns that it is only temporary. She helped a younger Beatrice repair a vase she accidentally shattered, but no more than moments later, a stray cat broke it again. All things are doomed to expire, but Virgilia as the Witch of Finite can repair them for a limited amount of time.

Satoru Uujishima

[identity profile] catdrawer.livejournal.com 2011-01-18 07:48 am (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Albiel
Character Name: Satoru Uujishima
Canon: Irisu Syndrome

Background: At first glance, there’s not a lot of canon to be had in Irisu Syndrome. The ‘Start’ button immediately drops you on a moderately complicated puzzle game. Upon losing, as you eventually will, you receive a CG. It is at this time that we are introduced to our protagonists: Edogawa Takeru, Age Hatori, and Satoru Uujishima (‘Uuji’, for short). The three of them are university students on a summer camping trip, which offers such joys as going to the beach, fishing and telling horror stories. It is during one of these horror stories that Agehas mentions a rabbit witch she saw that day. She is not taken seriously by the other two, and they quickly forget about it. It isn’t long until Edogawa disappears from the trip. At Ageha’s insistence, they go searching for him, and Uuji disappears shortly afterwards. The last of the five CGs shows Ageha sitting alone, wondering where the other two went.

It is at this point that the story branches. The game you play is literally one the murderer is playing in her own mind, and the farther you go, the more time you give her to reflect and regret her plans.

If you fail to get under a certain amount of points in 5 games. A news report will indicate that the three of them were killed, shortly followed by an announcement that Edogawa’s corpse was found.

If you don’t, however, Ageha retreats into the cabin and finds several notes belonging to the would-be murderer, Irisu Kyouko, a classmate of the three students, and the game’s true main character. I won’t spoil what happens, since it has to be seen to be believed, but things end with the three of them alive and celebrating Ageha’s birthday, which she had completely forgotten.

If you get enough points in the secret mode, Irisu starts dressing normally and openly starts to socialize with the rest of the group. A photo is taken, after which we are treated to some eerie narrating about how this isn't an appropriate 'happy ending'.

Earth
Irisu Syndrome

Ability Changes: No supernatural abilities allowed.
Ability Limitations: No supernatural abilities allowed.
Form Restrictions: Humans. Ghosts may exist, but so far, that’s just a popular WMG.
Social Restrictions: Just like real life.
Notes: Warning: . . .
Additional Information: (This can be a link, or it can be a larger description of the setting at large. For original settings, this section will need to be expansive and descriptive.)

Portal Location: Campsite.

Personality: The first thing anyone will notice about Uuji is that he’s pretty detached from the outside world. Having been assigned to the front of the class due to assigned seating, he constantly hears people talking about him, yet he never defends himself, not out of cowardice, but due to not caring at all. In his diaries, he also expresses that he has some difficulty talking, yet when he does, he always chooses his statements with the intention of making them seem neutral, ‘neither good nor bad’, in his words. However, Uuji’s actually a pretty nice guy once you get to know him. Not that you’re likely to get the chance, as he really enjoys his privacy. He tends to stick by himself in the classroom, being a good deal more serious than his classmates. However, he won’t push other people away if they try to talk to him. In fact, he seems to be something of a master at going with the flow, like when he simply nods at being told that he’ll go on a summer trip with two friends. Once he warms up to you though, he can become a little bit more assertive. He starts joking around Edogawa and Ageha, and is even capable of being reassuring once the former goes missing. He also proves completely calm once they tell him about a rabbit witch, although, to be fair, he was told about her by the panicky Ageha.

Big Boss | Metal Gear Series

[identity profile] saphrawn.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 11:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Saph
Character Name: Big Boss (Naked Snake, Jack, John)
Canon: Metal Gear (Solid)

Background: MGS Wiki (http://metalgear.wikia.com/wiki/Big_Boss)

Portal Location: His FOXHOUND Office!

Personality: What one has to take into consideration when trying to make sense of Big Boss's character, is that he accumulates more than 50 years of history and undergoes some drastic personality changes during this time – from a naive and innocent, patriotic soldier to a war-loving, war-mongering madman that retains only few redeeming traits; he's a perfect example of your Break the Woobie and Tragic Villain tropes. At the point in time I am taking Big Boss from, he's already pretty much a lost cause.

However, no matter from which point in canon you take Big Boss, there will always be at least one character trait that will always be present: his intense love for war and battle, and the fact that he considers fighting his only true purpose. He was born right into WWII, and although most of his past before meeting The Boss – his mentor – is shrouded in mystery, it can be safely assumed that he lost his family early on. A piece of older canon that does not directly contradict 'new' canon states that he's of Japanese-American descent, and has suffered from prejudice against his ethnicity during his childhood, so I'd build my headcanon for his early history around these facts, if it ever comes into play in RP (which I don't suspect it will). Elisa, a teen he meets in MPO, voices the assumption that Big Boss has probably already been on the battlefield and fighting when he was her age; and he remains silent, quietly confirming her words. Going by this, it's clear that Big Boss has led a life full of death, struggle, loss and violence since he's been a child, and has thus grown accustomed to all of it. It shows very early on in MGS3: he's reluctant to trust others, almost shy, even says that he's 'never been interested in other people's lives', implying that his relationships with others have always been very fleeting. As a soldier and someone who found true meaning in battle, someone who feels alive during battle, all he really cares about is serving his native country, the United States of America, letting someone else make all decisions for him. And true enough, he is outstanding at what he does, following orders and with skills and talent so remarkable that even the greatest living soldier in the world – The Boss – took notice of him, and decided to take him in as her disciple.

And this is where things turn sour. Spending ten years mostly at The Boss's side, Jack began to develop deep feelings and a strong attachment to her, and she eventually became the only person he ever cared about and truly loved. Naturally, the fact that his own government ordered him to kill her during an elaborate ploy on his first mission for a blackops unit called FOX traumatized and disillusioned him, and he tried to turn his back to the military, but his efforts were mostly futile: the battlefield found him and he would return to it time and time again, not knowing what he was fighting for anymore, eventually beginning to look for a new purpose in his life because he'd lost his faith in all governments.

[identity profile] saphrawn.livejournal.com 2011-01-25 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
He found it bit by bit, by giving other people that were like him – people that knew nothing but how to fight – a home and a reason they would choose for themselves so that they would not be thrown away once their country tired of them.

Big Boss views himself as a weapon, as someone who was 'made to fight'; while he respects those that wish for peace and holds no grudge against them, he is also realistic in his view of the world and the fact that men like him will always be needed (and when they aren't, he will make sure that they are by whatever means necessary). He is a warrior at his core and an excellent leader with remarkable charisma as well, able to draw people to his side naturally and with little effort, by power of his sheer presence and strength. Inspiring confidence in others is an easy task for him, and most of his enemies end up joining him sooner or later, impressed by what a single human is capable of achieving by true willpower alone – while never losing their humanity. Not only is Jack a good soldier, but he's also a good man... or at least, that's what it looks like at first glance.

Big Boss, as much of a killing machine as he is, has never lost his empathy or goodwill. He's forceful and rough around the edges, but has a gentle side to him that sets him apart from other men of his caliber: he actually cares. He cares for his men, he cares for his enemies, he cares for people he's never seen before and only heard of. True enough, he does not have a problem pulling the trigger on them if it's necessary, but the part of him that's struggling and asking himself WHY he continues doing this is always present and noticeable. Big Boss often wears his emotions on his sleeve, and he's thoughtful and considerate of others as much as his profession allows: he does not want to see innocents or civilians suffer, nor does he truly want a nuclear war, and here's where it becomes clear what kind of an enormous hypocrite he is.

Of course, he has no problem founding his own nation and hoarding nukes in order to make sure no one gets in the way of his vision. He's incredibly selfish on that vein, caring for his own interests, even if it means he has to become a terrorist every now and again – after all he's just doing what the times require of him to make sure he is able to survive the current era. And that's his uttermost desire: survival. He cares for others only as long as his own survival is not endangered. He's selfless, yes, but not to that extent, his inherent survival will will always prevail. He refuses to sacrifice himself or belong to someone else.

When it comes to other people, though, that's a different story. Big Boss hoards people. He collects them like one would collect postage stamps, and once someone has gotten his attention, he won't let them out of his sights so easily. He will pursue them until they submit and join him, and he can resort to quite brutal and underhanded tactics to make sure that is the case, though he always justifies it to himself by saying that it's for their own good. In truth, it is likely that he has abandoment issues and wants to keep as many people around as possible, fearing the loneliness and isolation he had to deal with years ago. Having abandoned his country, he needs others of his kind around to reassure him daily that what he does is 'right'. And of course love, recognition and devotion is just what he gets from the people that feel they ought to be grateful and indebted to him, leading him further down a very dark path that will result in him accepting no other view but his own, and waging war against the world and everyone that isn't on his side. On that note, he can be extremely manipulative, sometimes unintentionally, but most of the time he is fully aware of what he's doing: he uses people in the same way he has been using them in the past, and he hates himself a little for that, but can't actively acknowledge it.

Player Name: AOB, Annoying Optional Boss
Character Name: Pirohiko Ichimonji
Canon: Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs. Darkdeath Evilman

Background: The Unlosing Ranger has been a household name for many years now. He is a superhero fighting on the side of justice and has never been known to have lost a battle. In fact, given how long he has been around, there's a good chance that he just may be immortal. The truth, however, is that the Unlosing Ranger is actually a title that has been passed down as the years went by. Pirohiko Ichimonji is the former Unlosing Ranger before he passed on his title to an insignificant bystander, Jiro. While this would undeniably be a questionable move on his part, this just may be how the Unlosing Ranger's title is passed on.

Pirohiko's original job was as a police officer. He had dreams of fighting for the sake of justice even before becoming the superhero. In the past, there was a serial killer at large responsible for the murders around a neighborhood. Two children, Jiro and Choco, were kidnapped. By the time the police arrived at the scene, Pirohiko was the only one to notice that the Unlosing Ranger lost his life during the battle. With the last of his strength, the hero's belt was passed onto the police officer. Pirohiko never forgot what happened that day even years after training to become a true hero like the ranger before him.

[identity profile] neardeathranger.livejournal.com 2011-01-26 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Like all other heroes, Pirohiko trained in Bizarro Earth under the guidance of Noa, a former executive in an evil organization. He trained under her with another hero, Dangerama, who fought evil as a way of punishing himself. Noa put the two through all kinds of training dungeons specifically designed to put their lives in danger. Over time, Pirohiko obtained 100% determination as a hero, the power of love, and all things necessary to become the Unlosing Ranger. Pirohiko spent the rest of his days fighting evil until Darkdeath Evilman, the final boss, threatened the world. Pirohiko, who got up late, ran out to make it to the battle only to get into a car accident. Jiro, who happened to be at the scene, was given the Unlosing Ranger's belt. Pirohiko passed on...

Only to return to Bizarro Earth as a ghost. In his afterlife, Pirohiko did his best to see through Jiro's training all the while showing him everything important to being a hero... including the sponsors, absolutely refraining from equipping a tank, love that comes from protecting a woman whether or not she wants or knows about it. As the training continues, Jiro is tasked to help the Bizzaro version of the surgeon, Jean Noire, in a dungeon meant to raise his determination to 100%. After doing so, Jiro gains the determination that he needs and Jean regains the confidence in his abilities as a surgeon. In regular Earth, Jean performs a surgery on a dying man who happens to be Pirohiko.

Given life once again, Pirohiko, who is nearing death, tries rushing over to the final battle...

Portal Location: On a sidewalk in regular Earth. Pirohiko tripped and fell into the portal.

Personality: Like most heroes, Pirohiko is incredibly hot-headed. He's the type of hero who believes that he has a duty to fight even if he knows that he has absolutely no chance of winning. His determination to help and protect others is at the peak of what is humanly possible. His hotheadedness factors into how simple of a person he is. His drive for heroism is completely genuine and he believes in everything that he says with absolute confidence.

… Of course, that doesn't mean that everything he says isn't questionable. Some of his views of being a hero is somewhat twisted. For one thing, he believes that aside from saving people, the thing of greatest importance for a hero is to appeal to his sponsors. After all, money is what decides how much quality a battle has from an NES Dragon Quest-styled fight to a flashy Final Fantasy-esque battle completely made by CG. He has an odd view of love and believes that stalking is justified when it's meant to “protect whoever you love”. This would explain why he most of the girls he asked out usually to always reject him.

Regardless, Pirohiko is a good person with a kind heart. Even after death, he has nothing but concern for how the world is faring and intends to see through to Jiro's training. He has a good eye for other people's positive sides. Even when everybody had no hope for Jiro, Pirohiko stuck by him. Jiro didn't ask to be a hero, but he accepted and continued fighting regardless. Whether this is because he feels at fault or because he was also in the same position as Jiro, Pirohiko is the one person who stuck by him from the beginning to the end of the game.

Master Miller | Metal Gear [2]

[identity profile] jarate.livejournal.com 2011-01-26 09:34 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Kazuhira Miller is a survivor. Born into a world where war and all its facets - death, disease, loss - were nothing but simple day to day life for the people living in Yokosuka struggling to get by, he was considered a child of war years before he even learned how to use a gun. Resourcefulness even of the underhanded variety was something he had to hold close to his heart and emotional bonds were few and far between. There was no childhood for him to speak of, and when you take those essential years away from a person, you force them to grow up. You force them to learn all the things a person twice their age must know to live in a harsh and unforgiving environment with no one to support them, nothing to depend on but their own willpower.

That’s the impression you get when you look at the person Kaz has grown up into - an incredibly self-serving if not outright ruthless man who will cling to survival with every last ounce of strength. Once a contradiction of a person - ambitious, passionate and yet completely and utterly immature at his core - one can clearly see how much time and the extraordinary events that are commonplace in his life have changed him. FOXHOUND recruits and seasoned veterans know to respect him; the nickname “Hell Master Miller” isn’t just tacked on for show - it’s a testament to his skill and the incredibly high standards he sets his trainees to. As a combat instructor, his methods are brutal and his demeanor is strict, authoritarian, and even downright cold. It’s difficult to imagine that a person like this could ever display moments of kindness or vulnerability, though that perhaps only attests to the kind of person he really is deep down: a well-meaning man albeit misguided man whose loyalties tend to tear him in opposing directions.

It goes without saying that he’s a businessman through and through, and that this mindset was, like many things, instilled within him in his past. From living with his sick single mother whose only source of income to support them was through the tiny convenience store, to ending up managing it himself at the terribly young age of 10, to living in constant poverty for his entire early life, you have a better way of understanding why he places such a high priority on money and business when you need only look at the deplorable conditions of his early life in Japan. And even after he leaves the country a short time later and goes to live with the father who abandoned him and his mother, you can’t say that life completely improved for him, being the illegitimate son of an American soldier and a Japanese woman. Of course he was taken out of his poor living conditions and placed within a relatively safe, wealthy environment where he was able to receive a proper education and receive real citizenship (a luxury he couldn’t afford in Yokosuka), but it did little to relieve the guilt of leaving his ill mother alone in Japan, nor did it ease the stigma of living in post-war America as a Japanese-American citizen.

When both parents die within two years of the other, it could be said that the causes were due to his own bad decision-making; his father committing suicide due to depression caused from his son leaving him, and his mother eventually giving in to her disease, having long forgotten about Kaz due to mental deterioration. And yet, as far as we can tell, he doesn’t look back on it with open sadness; well-concealed regret and guilt, certainly, but he wouldn’t be where he is today if he didn’t keep looking to the future. He can be a very greedy person, even a selfish one, who always has business on his mind and who wouldn’t hesitate to hoard people to himself in an effort to stave away the loneliness, though looking at his childhood and the family he’s lost along the way, it’s not surprising. Anyone that offers him even a small amount of kindness is looked at fondly, treated like family, and for this reason it isn’t difficult to see why he makes friends easily.

My app because it's so big-

[identity profile] the-overseers.livejournal.com 2011-01-30 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
We just got to do a few clarifications before we can accept the app.

The character's actually pretty good, but as written they would be an Enforcer, they just don't quite have enough clout for Councilor role yet.

And also - we're just looking for some more info on the world itself:

For one, what are exactly artifacts and what can one exactly do with them? Just give us a few examples of what they can do, and ultimately what they cannot do. We would like some idea what kind of enemies agents may be up against.

And secondly, listing the powers as unlimited would put it on the same level as Dragonball Z or Disgaea and seem to contradict the fact that the world (or at least the school) had a pretty decent masquerade going on, mind giving us just a bit more details behind the powers and review what might be a better level to classify the power level at. I would suggest Medium-Low to Low personally.

And on a minor note, as written there might be some trouble with agent patrolling due to the "Closed Space" nature of the school, and this is fine. However, Morrison will order the gates temporarily locked to all except natives to that world if the student body becomes too suspicious of the newcomers for everyone's safety. It's just something we want you to be aware of.

ACCEPTED

Player Name: Incardine
Character Name: Pidonus Marasia
Canon: OC universe "Guardians of Reughardia"

Background:
Riana Falconite was a young girl, born 19 years ago. Invited to Reughardia University's affiliate grade school program from a young age, she was a bright, sunny girl who wanted for few things in her life. In particular, she was a significant positive influence on the life of one Calista Sigmus, who had some social stigma due to her seemingly having no family to draw class from. She, like few others, encouraged Calista's budding talents as a thief and devicer (a person able to use magical devices in spite of not, themselves, being magical) to help protect the school and its students from a growing array of unnatural threats. (She also never realized Calista's true identity... See that app for those details.)

Then Riana was murdered, right in front of Calista. The responsible creature was nothing particularly threatening compared to some of what Calista had faced before. In fact, it wasn't even a spirit or anything of the sort. Instead, it was a technological device, of the sort Calista used to aid her efforts... But not borne of Calista's usual sources. It would be the first of many times that Calista would face a crazed division of her father's company and their increasingly deranged experiments - using Reughardia and the surrounding city as a testing ground.

Riana's story essentially ended that day... But her consciousness did not. It's not sure what caused her to be one to draw attention, but her spirit 'awoke' in the realm of a clan of demons known as the Lustful Metaculture. The clan's leader, Myey'Alexandras, explained Riana's fate simply. She had died before her natural time. Myey could revive her and restore her to the world, that she might take revenge... But, she warned, it would come at a terrible cost, not just for her, but for at least one other. If she refused, she would go to her natural fate - whether angelic or diabolical, Myey simply could not know.

Perhaps fear motivated the girl to take what was offered. Perhaps hatred of what had killed her inspired her to take a chance at revenge she otherwise never would have. Perhaps Riana recognized that part of 'cost' was, to a sufficiently warped mind, actually pretty neat and useful. Either way, she took the deal: Her soul would become the demon's property, leaving her bound to follow Myey's orders and whims, in return for being remade as a Succubus, demon of lust. Only after did she find out what the cost for the other would be - she could only return to earth once summoned by another. Worse, Myey knew exactly who that summoner would be. She revealed that she had chosen Riana to get to the soul of Calista Sigmus - a natural genius whose soul, in spite of being seemingly nonmagical, was powerful, and would be a great boon to Myey's clan. Riana could no longer even protest, congratulating her new master on her cleverness as Myey's influence took hold over her mind. Abandoning her previous identity, Riana took a name assigned to her by her queen, along with the cover name Pidonus Marasia.

Two years later, Myey's bet came to pass, when Calista happened to come across a book at her school's library that shouldn't have been there. Immediately recognizing it as an artifact, and one that didn't belong in the library, she absconded with the book, deciding to analyze it at home. What she found, however, was surprising; the book depicted a clan of Succubi, with details for summoning and contracting with them. More surprising, however, was that one of the figures depicted in the book was highly familiar to her - like a grown-up version of a lost friend. Looking at the terms of the standard contract, Calista recognized the scheme of the book's creator... And figured out some potential workarounds. She decided to take the chance, arranging a ritual to summon this demon, considering making the contract - pledging her afterlife (read: her soul after she died) for the service of the Succubus until then.

Calista's hunch (naturally) proved accurate, Pidonus admitted from the very first question - shed lied only in claiming that her soul had been taken unwillingly (possible only if Riana's sins would have led her to the Netherworld anyways). However, when Calista referred to her as Riana, the girl shook her head. "Riana Falconite died two years ago. I've been Pidonus for two years, and I've got a lot of catching up on TV and tech to do." Calista protested, only for Pid to respond with a single finger over her mouth... Followed by a kiss. Riana had never wanted Calista in that way... But Pidonus was another matter.

Since then, Calista has continued to fight to protect her school (and, occasionally, the city) from the supernatural, and from the efforts of Xatos Corporation's darker science divisions, who continue to test in this city for reasons known only to them. Now, however, the near-legendary phantom thief has had a partner in crime; one friend she could trust with her identity, and rely on to help her on her every heist. Unfortunately, her day role was stuck with a domineering freeloader roommate who she couldn't get away from any longer than Pid would allow. For now, at least, Calista was okay with that. Pidonus, for her part, also acts as a student at Reughardia academy, one year Calista's senior, and helps her on excursions around the world for the acquisition of artifacts.

Calista and Pidonus actually came across separate portals to the same room in CO at the same time. Pid had the bad luck of the portal opening underneath her feet in her closet, crashing down right on top of Calista (who had walked through a more normal portal). She's sticking around mostly to serve as Calista's assistant. Being able to enjoy media - and people - from across a fine sample of the infinite dimensions of the cosmos is a nice side benefit.

Never ask her about the incident with the truck of magma. Just don't. (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/BerserkButton)

Player Name: Sage
Character Name: Gremio
Canon: Suikoden (I & II)

Background: A Wiki for you! (http://suikoden.wikia.com/wiki/Gremio)

Personality: Gremio is a kind fellow, if not a perpetual worrier and a bit of a wet blanket. He's sweet and personable, though he's shy around higher powers, pretty women, and people who are authoritative in personality. He enjoys being a part of the cogwork, as it were, making sure things go well.
He's a fantastic cook whose personal favorite thing to make is any sort of soup or stew. He's also canny warrior besides, and has been in two wars, fighting for General Teo McDohl in the Seven Year War, and alongside Tir McDohl, leader of the Liberation Army for the Gate Rune Wars.
He raised Tir like his own son while General McDohl was away, and as such, he is not unlike a sort of worrying, overprotective motherly figure. He does this for everyone, now that he's realized that Tir doesn't need him to be a nervous nelly at his side.
He likes to sing (albeit offkey) when he cooks, meeting new people, and listening to gossip, although he doesn't spread it. He knows he isn't the brightest crayon in the box, but he doesn't let that stop him from trying to learn. He's actually quick at learning new battle strategies and dishes to cook, but if you give him anything advanced to learn, he'll feel overwhelmed.

Reason for Joining: After Tir turned 22, Gremio finally accepted the fact that he had to cut the apron strings. He needed to find something to do. Talking to a few of his long-standing friends and acquaintences, Gremio spoke to Luc, who said something about a place where they protect worlds from colliding, and it interested him. He asked if they needed cooks, and the rest is history. However, he is actually rather interested in the field work just as much as helping with the menial work of cooking for the hungry troops, so to speak. After so many years of being a soldier, he can't help but get a little hungry for a new adventure.

Position Desired: Agent, though he requests a job in the kitchens when he isn't sent out in the field.

Point in Canon: Just after his part in Suikoden II.

Notes: I got nothin' right now. Nice setting, I like it!

I lied! 2/3

OPO-25A

Name: Gremio
Gender: Male
Age: 37
Home Plane Identification Number: [Gremio is thinking, "I'm not sure! Luc never told me! Goodness, I hope this isn't important!"]
Visitor Identification Number: 3392, I think!

Reason for requisitioning a Gate Key: I would like to help protect the multiverse from collapse and destruction, and I was told there was need for someone who can cook well.

Intended use of the Gate Key: I probably won't be using it except for missions, if I'm ever sent on one.

Favorite Color: Green. That nice leafy green color.

Measurements (Female applicants only): ... [Gremio wonders why this would be important, and puzzles over it momentarily before moving on.]

Relevant World-Shattering Abilities: I was fitted with a healing rune years ago. I can do four very good healing spells! It's not really world-shattering, but I suppose it's a big deal compared to some?

Relevant Non-World-Shattering Abilities: I can cook the best stew in the world! And I'm a good soldier.

Psychiatric Evaluation Code: [Gremio goes "oh dear, where did that paper go? I know I had the code on me somewhere!" and pats down his pockets. He worries that it may effect his ability to help the cause, and frets unduly throughout the rest of the test as he keeps seeing a blank space where his answer should be.]

Hobbies: I like to sing and clean house, and love to go out somewhere where I can see the sky, and look at clouds, and stars at night. I also like to build snow forts, when it's winter.

Education Background: I was born a peasant, so my schooling wasn't much. I was taught to read and write by my father, and how to cook by my mother, and when I turned 16, I joined General McDohl's brigade and started training as a soldier.

Work Experience: I spent eight years in the army under General Teo McDohl, fighting in the Seven Years War, and then 8 years as General McDohl's cook and servant, raising his son, Tir for him. I then worked under Tir McDohl as a soldier in the Liberation Army, as well as his personal bodyguard. I have been doing that ever since.

Favorite Plant and/or Animal: I love the taste of rosemary, and my favorite animal is a puff-puff!

Everything looks good, however, it's hard to tell whether this is an AU or from a point in the canon that is unclear (there is a "Point in Canon" option that you seemed to have omitted). If it is an AU, I'd like to have a bit more of the differences fleshed out. If not, what point in canon are you bringing Sora from?

The application looks good for the most part, but it looks like you got a bit confused on the Portal Location. This is where the character himself enters from, and since known gates are set up so that only people who are already members of Confuto Ordinatio can enter them, each character arrives through a distinctly different gate. So you have to pick a location for Heero to enter through -- I suggest either a location that has some importance to Heero himself or importance to the overall plot of the series.

Other than that, the application looks good, so just get back to me with a portal location and you'll be set.

Rika Furude | Higurashi | Not Reserved

[identity profile] sugarvoice.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Player Name: Berri
Character Name: Rika Furude
Canon: When They ry; Higurashi no ku Koro Ni

Background: Furude Rika lives in the quiet mountain village of Hinamizawa in Japan. The only 'modern' town nearby is about an hour's bike ride away and the local school is so small that all of the grades are smushed together into one building. Hinamizawa is noted for being a beautiful little village as well, but only a handful of tourists/outsiders ever visit.

Rika is the only daughter of the Furude family. There is a tradition/legend passed down the family that if their first born child is a girl for seven generations in a row, then she is the reincarnation of Oyashiro-sama, who is the village's protective deity. Furude Rika just so happens to be that special little girl. The Furude family commands a lot of respect as it is, being one of the "Three Ruling Families" that dominate the village politics (the other two are Kimiyoshi and Sonozaki) and also being the family that maintains Oyashiro-sama's shrine. However, as Oyashiro-sama's reincarnation, Furude Rika gets extra special treatment. The villagers all naturally spoil her and consider it "a blessing" when they happen across her. Many villagers call her "Rika-chama" to show their respect.

Oyashiro-sama, by the way, is a Deity guarding the village. “He”, in the past, protected them and helped them with an issue of “Demons” that co-existed in the village. Thanks to Oyashiro-sama, the villagers and the Demons (from the local Swamp) could live together peacefully. In honor of Oyashiro-sama, on June 19th, a festival called the “Watanagashi Festival” is held in “his” honor. The Furude House is deeply linked to Oyashiro-sama and his ability to protect people from the demon blood they have, due to the humans and demons co-existing. Though, a lot of that is a lie.

The Furude Family is approached by the Irie Clinic when Rika is maybe 7 or 8-- young, before hell breaks loose. Doctor Irie and Nurse Takano reveal to them that they are in Hinamizawa researching a disease called the “Hinamizawa Syndrome”. More Hinamizawa Syndrome information is here (”http://badend-replay.livejournal.com/10938.html#cutid1”). But Rika’s family agrees to allow her participation in the research; her blood is the key to preventing the disease, so she needs to go to the clinic and donate blood for the research. Though, her mother is a bit reluctant, as she knows the constant blood donations will take their toll on her young daughter’s body.
However, all information about the research is kept secret among the family and research project members.

When she was around 5 or 7--- once again, age not specified, but later Akasaka returns to Hinamizawa with his 5-7 year old daughter and comments that she (Miyuki) is the same age as Rika was then, giving as an age frame-- Hinamizawa Village is in quite the pinch. The government wants to put Hinamizawa under water and turn the village into a dam. Though the government had offered to pay the villagers and help them move into the city, they stage an elaborate protest with Oyashiro-sama’s shrine (also called the Furude Shrine) as the base. The entire village bands together to try to convince the government not to sink their village.
Around this same time, Akasaka Mamoru also arrives in Hinamizawa. He’s a detective from Tokyo, investigating a kidnapping that may be linked to the Hinamizawa Dam project protests, but pretending to be a tourist. He meets Furude Rika at this time and she reveals for one of the first times in the series her “Frederica Bernkastel” side. Rika warns Akasaka that he needs to return to Tokyo or something awful will happen, and assures him that the Hinamizawa Dam Project will end without the village being sunk. She also predicts a chain of murders that will span for the night five years, ending in her own death.

Shortly afterwards, her predictions come true. Akasaka learns that his wife, Yukie, fell down the stairs. Though her unborn child is safely delievered, Yukie herself passes away. On that same night, June 19th, the manager of the dam construction project is murdered and dismembered. One of the killers disappears. Also like Rika predicted, the dam project is halted as a result of this tragedy.

The next year, a man and woman related to the dam project fall off a cliff while on vacation. They are the parents of Rika’s friend-to-be Houjou Satoko. Satoko’s mother’s body is never recovered. Satoko and her elder brother, Satoshi, move in with their aunt and uncle.
The next year, Rika’s own parents die. Her father is struck by a mysterious illness and her mother drowns herself in a “bottomless swamp”. Her mother’s body is never recovered. Mr Kimiyoshi becomes Rika’s legal guardian, but Rika lives alone in the Furude Shrine’s store house rather than her original house. Rika also takes on the role of Oyashiro-sama’s personal miko. The villagers support Rika’s living situation, but she is not alone for long.
The next year, Satoko’s Aunt is violently beaten to death and her brother Satoshi disappears/is “spirited away”. Rika invites Satoko to live with her when her uncle flees Hinamizawa and leaves her alone. For the next year, Rika and Satoko grow very close.

Finally, the fifth year of the curse rolls around. Just as Rika predicted. Tomitake, a photographer who visits yearly, At this point, the story branches off into different “worlds”. In some “worlds”, Keiichi goes crazy and kills Rena and Mion (Onikakushi-hen). In some “worlds”, Mion’s twin sister Shion goes crazy and kills everyone (Watanagashi-hen/Meakeshi-hen). In some “worlds”, Satoko’s abusive uncle returns and Keiichi wishes everyone in the village to die (Tatarigoroshi-hen). In some “worlds”, Rena goes crazy and locks her schoolmates in the local school and burns it to the ground (Tsumihoroboshi-hen/Yoigoshi-hen). And in some “worlds”, Satoko realizes something is wrong with Rika and tries to help her, but the entire village ends up annihanilated in a volcanic gas disaster (Yakusamashi-hen).

And in all of these “worlds”, Furude Rika dies. Is murdered, actually. Kidnapped, stripped of her clothes, put into light unconsciousness, and disemboweled on the steps of the Furude Shrine. No matter what, Furude Rika will always die.

But it isn’t over when she dies. When Furude Rika dies, her invisible friend Furude Hanyuu steps in. Hanyuu is the real “Oyashiro-sama”, a horned young woman who died in the past and continues to haunt Hinamizawa. She can only be seen by Rika, who is “Oyashiro-sama’s Reincarnation”. Hanyuu collects Rika’s memories and goes to find another world. She picks a point in this world before Rika dies and gives the Rika of that world all of her previous memories so that she can try to prevent her death.

Player Name: Dani
Character Name: Akiko
Canon: Time of Eve

Background: Here! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_of_Eve) If that isn’t enough, I can probably scrounge up more.

Setting Information:

Earth
Time of Eve

Ability Changes: Most abilities are removed. Artificial beings may keep limited superhuman strength and technology-based abilities, but nothing beyond practical android-like skills such as strength for moving objects, speed, Internet link-up, etc.
Ability Limitations: Totally restricted. It is an ordinary, if advanced earth setting.
Form Restrictions: Human or android.
Social Restrictions: Androids are regarded as tools by most humans. Androids who show emotion outside of specific locations may be considered defective and otherwise illegal. Androids are also required to have a status ring floating above his or her head to mark his or herself as an android, and follow the three laws of robotics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Laws_of_Robotics).
Notes: Warning: Robotic Reveal. Warning: Nagi is a stickler for rules. Warning: Terminator robots. Warning: Chie is a cat. Warning: Are you enjoying the Time of Eve?
Additional Information: Wiki pretty much covers it. (a)

Portal Location: The entrance to Time of Eve.

Personality: Akiko is an android. Above all else, she must follow the three laws of robotics. Firstly, she must protect humans. Her Masters are thus the most important concern of hers, whether it is their general safety or even their happiness. In order to protect humans, she will do a number of things – from physically defending them to even telling lies to prevent them from being hurt psychologically. She will keep secrets about anything she deems dangerous to the humans around her, from her own status as an android to her frequent visits to a café where she learns about humans through interacting with them as though she were human herself.

Secondly, she will obey all human orders. Though she will keep a secret, if a higher order (such as that of a parent or her Master) tells her to spill the beans, she will have to. It’s part of her programming, after all. She may, however, attempt to find loopholes if she believes it is necessary.

Thirdly, she must have a sense of self-preservation. But all this really amounts to is, as long as she doesn’t have to destroy herself, she won’t. This leads her to find ways of solving conflicts with the least damage to her body, although priority on safety goes to the humans of course. This law also insists that she go in for monthly maintenance to keep herself in working order.

Generally, Akiko tends to be about what you would expect from an android. She has a blank stare and walks in straight lines in the designated android walking zones. She will step out of the way of any human that needs passage unless ordered otherwise, and she dutifully carries out any chores her Masters need of her. In this state, if she has any friends, she will ignore them to avoid bringing up conflict.

[identity profile] chatterboxbot.livejournal.com 2011-02-14 07:16 am (UTC)(link)
And then… there is her behavior in Time of Eve. For a little background, Time of Eve is a café where there is one rule that is given to all customers, including humans. In the café, there is to be no discrimination between androids and humans. Because of this rule, androids enter and immediately remove the status rings that mark them as androids, before taking on a human-like personality in order to blend in. In Akiko’s case, she acts like a hyperactive teenaged girl who loves to talk. She is overly friendly, and if anyone so much as mentions a conversation, she will jump right in and likely take up a lot of the conversation with her own chatter. Of all the androids that visit the café, she is probably the most human-like, having developed a strong enough personality to completely fool normal humans. She can even deal with small children well, although that is probably in part because of childcare programs.

A personality is not the only “extra” aspect she has developed. She is also curious about humans, and seeks to interact with them because she wants to know what makes them happy and sad. Position Desired: Agent

Point in Canon: Post-canon.

Notes: Akiko is an android. Because of this, her default mode is to be robotic and, well, emotionless. Could it be assumed there is some rule against discrimination or otherwise encourage androids to act human if they are so inclined?
