Application
Application Rules:
-Certain characters canonically have great influence over dimensional travel (such as Yuuko from xxxHolic or one of the Data Integration Thought Entity humanoid interfaces from Haruhi Suzumiya, i.e. Yuki and Ryoko) will have a greater influence in the setting than normal, or are just extremely high-powered and can potentially affect the game in major ways. Playing one often requires some special plot integration, and require a player to have established themselves by playing another character before they will be accepted.
-AU settings are generally allowed on a case-to-case basis, but no more than one of the same character can be a permanent member of Planeocracy. If the AU is significantly different and established (such as the Genderbend of Haruhi Suzumiya) then it is generally allowed, as the characters are different enough from the main source to be distinct. Apping an AU character uses the standard application procedure, but if the AU doesn't meet our requirements, we may deny them on that basis. Here are the qualifications for if your AU is acceptable:
1. Significantly different from the source material. Minor tweaks to history and/or personality don't make an AU different enough to really be worth accepting for us. For an AU to be accepted it needs to have something major different to differentiate it from the canon.
2. Internally consistent. In most cases you'll be coming up with the AU yourself, so you need to make sure it all makes sense within the setting. So, if something changes, the whole setting obviously has to change as a result, and we need to know how.
3. This isn't absolutely necessary, but if at all possible the character will look at least somewhat different from their canon counterpart. This is primarily to help differentiate if we have both.
If you are thinking of apping an AU of a character, please get a hold of all potential castmates as well as any person playing the same character (if this is applicable). This is required for your application to be accepted.
-Original characters are permitted, they use the same application form but require far more detail as far as background and setting. If they are a part of an existing canon, they cannot have any ties to actual canonical characters or visible connection to events (attributing events in-canon to the character that are otherwise unattributed may be permissible but is generally discouraged). As with canon characters, you are limited to two OCs, even if the OCs are from different universes. Planeocracy canon originals can use any of the settings posted in the setting information post that specifically say they are open, and must conform to the general concepts of the world. It is HIGHLY advised to speak to the mod team before making the character, these characters can be rejected automatically if they do not follow the general concepts of the established world.
-You may only have one application in queue at a time. If you would like to submit a second app, you must wait until your first has been processed.
Application Template:
Looked over the community? Brushed up on all 31,561,021 Confuto Ordinatio rules and regulations? Filled out all your forms in triplicate? Looks like you're ready to get that Gate Key! Just fill out the following form and submit it to the Executive Subcommittee of Other-Planar Affairs! That Gate Key should be yours in 5-7 business days!
The following is an alternate form that can be used in place of a musebox sample post. It takes the form of an application and interview as if the character were applying for a job. Respond to the questions in-character, if you or your character doesn't know what they're asking for indicate it in some way. The character can lie if doing so is in character, but indicate they are doing it by writing "[LIE]" before the answer to the question.

Character Name: Miles Edgeworth

(WARNING: The last five Wikis contain SPOILERS for all five cases of Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth!)
Setting Information: http://aceattorney.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Universe
Portal Location: District Courthouse
Personality: Ever since the DL-6 incident and Yanni Yogi's acquittal, Edgeworth has held a passionate hatred for crime. The reason why he gave up on his dream of becoming a great defense attorney like his father and instead followed the path of the prosecutor under von Karma's tutelage was because this newfound hatred led him to a desire of taking an active part of locking up criminals instead of helping the accused get off the hook. For a while, he took this too far -- he believed that it was a prosecutor's job to always prove a defendant's guilt. However, he never consciously used forged evidence -- the only piece of forged evidence he used was forged without his knowledge.
However, this changed after he prosecuted in two trials opposite Phoenix Wright and then was represented himself in trial by his old friend. He disappeared, and by the time he had returned, he had found a new purpose for himself and his profession. No longer was he concerned about getting a "Guilty" verdict in every trial he prosecuted; instead, his ultimate goal became to determine the truth. As a result, he worked with Phoenix in court instead of against him, and even stood in for Phoenix as a defense attorney for the first day of one of his cases. He also gets extremely active in his investigations, as proven in Investigations.
Outside of his behavior in court and his zeal for discovering the truth, Edgeworth has plenty of other characteristics. For one, he's pretty much irresistable to many women. This doesn't limit itself to his physical appearance, either -- the man is an absolute gentleman when dealing with the fairer sex. For example, in Case 2 of Investigations, after he proves beyond a reasonable doubt who the murderer is, a flight attendant he helped out offers him a suitcase she herself designed. Now, this suitcase design was hideous -- and Edgeworth made no effort to hide his disgust with the design earlier -- but he accepted it nevertheless, because, as he put it, he could not refuse such a gift from a woman. This also extends to little girls -- Edgeworth once states that making a girl cry should be punishable by death.
The thing is, Edgeworth has little to no libido. Think Sherlock Holmes levels of libido (or lack thereof). He's capable of resisting feminine wiles in court (April May and Dahlia Hawthorne are two particularly egregious cases, given that they captivate every male member of the court), and he tends to miss it when women start developing feelings for him (such as Lauren Paups). You could also make the argument that he's repulsed by women who come on too strongly to him, but the only time that ever appears is with Wendy Oldbag, who is...not very desirable, to say the least.
Edgeworth also tends to play the straight man a lot. But let's face it, when you live in a world with a character cast as kooky as the one in the Ace Attorney series, any semblance of normality is going to make you look like the straight man. It doesn't help that his most frequent companion is a bumbling detective who has a weak stomach for blood and shows off his gun to little girls to cheer them up, or, failing that, a whip-happy perfectionist tsundere. So we get to see him snark a lot. We see even more snarking in Case 5 of Trials and Tribulations and in the entirety of Investigations, because we get to read his inner monologue. By FAR it's at its most egregious when he interacts with either Wendy Oldbag or Larry Butz, though Gumshoe and Franziska elicit a lot of snark.

But despite all of this, as well as a slight aloofness, Edgeworth is a good guy. He may not be the friendliest person around or, for the ladies, might fail to notice any advances, but there's hardly another person you want on your side when he has faith in you. The man will go to whatever lengths he feels he must in order to uncover the truth.
Reason for Joining: Edgeworth stumbled in by accident. But, now that he knows, he can't in good conscience leave and try to forget about it. If different worlds are converging and collapsing and whatnot, he's going to try to find out why it's happening. In other words, his pursuit of the truth has led him to join Confuto Ordinatio.
Position Desired: Councilor. Edgeworth was a prodigy who passed the bar exam at age 20 and has served in the courts for seven years since then. He's never been a member of the police, but he has directed the police, has authority over them (which he most often seems to use to dock Gumshoe's pay), and has headed more than a few investigations himself. He's extremely accustomed to issuing orders while not actively stopping crimes. His job is to make people face justice for the crimes they have committed.
Point in Canon: End of Investigations.

Interview:
What brings you to Confuto Ordinatio?: A complete accident, I assure you.
What family members do you think were most influential into making you who you are today?: Neither of the most significant influences on who I am today can be considered true family.
So how 'bout them Tenbraks eh? Eh? Catch the game? 52-7, I told Janice in Accounting, I said "those Balthims, they're just not up to snuff this year," but no, she said "I'll bet you 20 plat they're gonna take the banner." Take that bet I did, she still insists they'll turn it around though. Ain't that a riot?: ...I'm sorry, I don't particularly follow professional sports.
What inspired you to apply for an Agent Position?: ...I think you misunderstand. I am not applying for an Agent position.
What skills do you think you'll bring to this agency?: I am known for using rational logic to arrive at conclusions that other people may have missed. That brand of logic is what I bring.
You sound like you'll be a wonderful match, but you know, rules and procedures and all that so I've got a few more questions for you.: I understand.
Do you have a history of meddling in affairs you shouldn't be meddling in?: Some might say I do, but most of those people are now behind bars for various felonies they have been proven guilty of.
Do you consider yourself a hero of justice?: I seek justice, yes, but I hardly qualify as a hero.
Have you ever wanted to work for something bigger than yourself?: I already am -- I work for the state government.
Looks like I was right. You're a great fit here, glad to have you on board!: Thank you. I'll make sure you aren't disappointed.
