Event Pre-Planning: Assault on the Entropy Bomb Factory

[If you can see this post, please do not let others know that you can, this is exclusively for those of Command Unit rank or High Councilor rank only. The general event information will become publicly available around May 1st.]

Who: Sgt. Morrison, Commander Ramirez, Senior Councilor Ksthellixis, Senior Councilor Macarius, Bill, all High Councilors and Command Unit members.
What: Planning a counter-offensive against the Children of Entropy.

Around noon, you all receive the following summons: "This is Sgt. Morrison. If you are receiving this notification, please report immediately to my office. Your attendance is mandatory, and this is a first priority summons."

Upon entering the office, you see Morrison sitting at his desk, flanked by Senior Councilor Macarius, Commander Ramirez, and Bill. There is a video screen active with Senior Councilor Ksthellixis's looming visage, the details from the background indicate that he is at his estate on the Outer Rim.

"I have important news," Morrison says. "We have located the base where the Children of Entropy are manufacturing their entropy bombs. We intend to capture the facility and as many Children of Entropy as we can."

[So this is how this works. There will be a number of threads to discuss how to best deploy the Agents and Enforcers in various roles. After all the planning, this will go public and the others will have an opportunity to give input as well. Ideally, once this conversation is done the Command Unit and High Councilors will have a set plan to present to the rest of the compound.]

Ground Forces and Unassigned Agents and Enforcers Discussion

This attack will require a large-scale presence of troops on the ground. I expect that we will have to kill a number of the Children of Entropy, and frankly, I am OK with that. I want to make sure at least some of the leaders are captured, if at all possible.

Do we have anything that might assist us in identifying the leaders? Even if it's just a photo or a voice clip, it would help considerably.

Councilors and Intelligence

THIS MISSION MUST BE CARRIED OUT QUICKLY. I KNOW THAT IF SYLTHERIAN AND THE TRANSCENDANT REPUBLIC GET WIND OF THIS, THEY WILL DEPLOY DIVISIONS 0001 AND 0002 TO SMASH THE BASE AND LEAVE NONE ALIVE. NOT ONLY WILL THEY TAKE THE GLORY FOR THEMSELVES, BUT THEY WILL USE THIS AGAINST US AND OUR DIVISION TO SHAME US AND POSSIBLY EVEN ADD FUEL TO RUMBLINGS THAT WE BUNGLED THE AETHR MISSION.

I WILL NOT ALLOW THIS TO HAPPEN. IT WILL BE THE DUTY OF THE COUNCILORS AND THE DIPLOMAT CORPS TO RUN INTERFERENCE. I HAVE NO DOUBT AS WE BEGIN REQUISITIONING EQUIPMENT SYLTHERIAN AND THE TRANSCENDANT REPUBLIC WILL SUSPECT SOMETHING IS UP. WE NEED TO DELAY THEM AS LONG AS POSSIBLE, BEFORE THEY CAN FIND OUT WHAT WE'RE UP TO BEFORE WE'VE CAPTURED THE BASE. ONCE WE HAVE THE BASE IN OUR POSSESSION, WE CAN EASILY SWING THE SHAME BACK TO THEM, EVERYONE KNOWS HOW THOSE DIVISIONS OPERATE AND WE CAN MAKE THE POINT THAT THE SECRECY WAS NECESSARY SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT DESTROY IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT WE CAN USE TO OUR BENEFIT.

I SUSPECT THE INFILTRATION UNIT WILL NEED TO BE THE FIRST ONES DEPLOYED. IDEALLY WE CAN GET SOME PEOPLE ON THE INSIDE TO GET US A LAYOUT OF THE STATION, AND IDEALLY DO SOME SABOTAGE BEFORE THE ATTACK.

Masking of large scale equipment requisitioning will not pose exceptional difficulty. I believe I may have found a good route for some bureaucratic routing that could buy us as long as a month before it gets to general observation... Particularly if we have a couple choice Agents "expedite" the routing by carrying things from point to point personally.

Given we'd only need a week? I think we can handle that.

In regards to the Syltherians, it will be vital to ensure their backs are turned while we strike. If I may propose an idea? We should spread false rumors, claim that we have located a base somewhere far away from where the real one lies. While they concentrate their attention on approaching this false base, we can move in quickly and take out the real base ourselves.

[identity profile] toturithefirst.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 05:06 am (UTC)(link)
An interesting proposal, but would they take it well once it came into light that it was a fabrication?

[identity profile] faithfultenko.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 05:11 am (UTC)(link)
If they fail to see through our deception, then is it really our fault for deceiving them, or theirs for striking without confirming the veracity of the report? After all, we are meant to be "bunglers," are we not?

[identity profile] toturithefirst.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
Very true. Do we know the speed at which they can investigate it though? If they move to attack and find nothing, they would definitely be on alert and looking. Perhaps this measure is best employed right before the attack to throw them off?

[identity profile] faithfultenko.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
A wise idea. And they may be more eager to jump to conclusions should they gain any suspicion at all of what we are up to. Obviously, that would not be the desired result, but in such a contingency we can use it to our advantage easily.

Requisitioning Equipment, Tech Department

[identity profile] the-overseers.livejournal.com 2011-04-16 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I've been looking at a number of Astral Ships we can use to launch our assault. We can freely requisition any of these, but the more we requisition, the closer we're going to be examined. We should probably limit ourselves to requisitioning 3 or 4 ships. I'll want the R&D department on standby to analyze the base when captured, but I think in the interim we can probably have them do some development work to help make the process easier. We should have enough ships to load Machine Squadron equipment in order to participate in the attack, with an installation that size we're going to need some heavy firepower.

As far as the ships, here are some of the ones I'm looking at:

TRM-032156 "Imperial Hammer": A Dreadnought-class ship designed for heavy combat, this is a bit older of a model dating back to later Imperium Age that has been retrofitted and kept in active duty. It is the largest ship I am looking at and has the largest capacity, as well as the most offensive power.

Syltherian Cruiser Class 462366 "Windrider": A skirmishing-class ship designed for quick hit-and-run tactics and intel gathering, the Windrider is a quick and agile ship. It's weapon loadout is impressive, and it specializes in hitting fast and hard before vanishing from view before it can be counter-attacked. It has low carrying capacity and its defensive capabilities are not particularly impressive, the design intent is that it not ever be hit and it should be put in the hands of an operator who can avoid such a circumstance.

SG-8256427 "Operative": Named for the most ubiquitous of Shin Gensokyo's underbelly, the Operative is an Infiltration-class ship with low carrying capacity but high speed and stealth capabilities. It is designed to deliver and extract Operatives to sensitive installations while remaining unseen so intel can be gathered and sabotage can be attempted.

Aethr Support-Class 354128 "Magiguard": One of the few remaining ships in the former Aethr fleet, the Magiguard uses powerful defensive barriers and verniers to protect other ships in the fleet. It employs a number of magitek cannons to launch powerful, variable attacks to run interference and harassment, but it's primary function is taking hits.

Special Ops

You guys are going to be playing some especially important roles. This is gonna be our most dangerous mission yet, so I'm gonna want most STFU personnel out there on the front lines. You've got authority over agents and even other enforcers; use it. And remember, wisely-placed suppression fields could mean the difference between victory and defeat -- between life and death.

T&A guys, you're gonna be our eyes in the sky for this. All the info we pick up is gonna be going through you, so you're gonna be responsible for distributing it. You guys will be giving us most of our pre-battle strategies, so make sure they're solid and can be changed on the fly by the Command Unit as the situation on the field changes. You can requisition gate bores, too, but I'm gonna advise against any more than two or three -- we can't draw too much attention to ourselves.

[Omi has his laptop out, and is both typing notes, and pulling up information on the members of the various departments.]

Commander, what information do we have on the location?

[identity profile] the-overseers.livejournal.com 2011-04-17 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
They've set up shop in a little out-of-the-way nook in the Astral. Closest worlds are Earth-PW, Earth-LS, and Earth-HS, but when I say they're "close" it's in the same sense as saying Proxima Centauri is close to our sun.
