If you have an idea for a large game-wide event, you may also post it here. Give a description of the event and how or why it would be happening. If you prefer, you can IM or PM us a descriptin of the event instead to keep it a secret from the rest of the game. All major events are subject to mod approval, and we reserve the right to modify or reject event ideas that don't work with our plans or setting.

World: Earth (Gegege no Kitaro)
Job: Youkai in the building!
Reason: Some Youkai have moved into an office building and are causing trouble, but nobody can find out where they are. Locate them and extract them.
Details: May need a log. The Youkai in question, led by a fairly belligerent daruma, live on the fourth floor; the trouble is that there IS no fourth floor because the building is a traditional Japanese building that eschewed one for the same reason American buildings lack a thirteenth floor. Fighting skills are a plus, but not required if the applicant is clever enough.

World: Earth (Gegege no Kitaro)
Job: Solve the mystery of the faceless people!
Reason: Reports have been escalating of people whose faces are missing. Discover the cause.
Details: May or may not be logged. It's pretty much all this guy's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noppera-b%C5%8D) fault. Fighting is a possibility, but trickery may also be utilized.

KITARO JOB GUIDELINES

In general, things from this list (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_legendary_creatures_from_Japan) or this site (http://www.obakemono.com/) are game for generating jobs from Gegege no Kitaro; that said, some work better than others. Here are some notable points:

NURARIHYON: Do not choose Nurarihyon as a youkai for a job unless you have high stakes in mind. He's a recurring villain and hates Kitaro's guts. Has a dopey sidekick in Shu-No-Bon (This dude (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v632/Dragomorph/img_syunobon.jpg)).

KITSUNE: With very few exceptions, kitsune are Bad News in Kitaro's world. A good villain choice, then.

YASHA: Has a dramatically different interpretation in Gegege no Kitaro from the traditional; the Obakemono Project site goes into a little detail about this, but yeah, more bad news.

SUNEKAKE-BABA/KONAKI-JIJI/ITTAN-MOMEN/NURIKABE: These guys are all Kitaro's buddies, though Nurikabe at least has been shown to have more than one of his species; they're all generally benevolent, though. If a job does involve them, here's a few characterization points:

Sunekake-Baba: Runs a youkai apartment complex, and also mixes sands with various properties for various uses. Jobs may involve ingredient gathering or (probably futilely) getting Konaki-jiji to pay his goddamn rent.

Konaki-Jiji: Looks like an old man, acts about as mature as a little kid. Loves booze.

Ittan-Momen: If he likes you, he'll give you a ride. A sweet guy for someone who mythologically smothers people, and heroic to boot.

Nurikabe: A big, hard working sort of guy. A sweetie -- and married, with kids!

In addition, the following youkai thus far have been seen as largely benevolent: tengus, tanuki, kawa-uso, kasa-obake.

More notes as they occur to me.
