Setting Information:

Earth
Live A Live

Ability Changes: Live A Live takes place in different eras, so depending on which ones are being entered, it'll vary. The eras that where characters can blend in easily with their abilities as is are the Prehistoric Era, Feudal Japan, Near Future Japan, and the Middle Ages. Abilities in both Ancient China and Present Day Japan are limited to extraordinary feats of physical strength, but nothing that extends to magic. The Distant Future nullifies exceptional abilities, but makes up for it with all of its technological advancements. In the Old West, the quality of a person's gun and his proficiency determines his strength.
Ability Limitations: Power levels tend to vary, but most time periods except for the Distant Future and Old West allow superhuman characteristics.
Form Restrictions: The Prehistoric Era and Feudal Japan allow for all races even beyond human, but forms are restricted to humans in all the other eras.
Social Restrictions: Prehistoric Era: Humans are still primitive, so it's best not to bring into this era advanced technology like guns or computers.

Ancient China: Practitioners of martial arts and those who master them usually are treated with the highest amount of respect in towns, but showing off may incite unwanted fights. Women aren't exactly held in the highest esteem in most places.

Middle Ages: Knights are viewed as heroes by the people and the established government is a monarchy. There's little to worry here about here and most people are friendly, but they can collectively turn against you if they see something is wrong. Demons all under the services of the Demon King are starting to roam the lands again.

Feudal Japan: Numerous states are fighting for total control of the country, so bloodshed and assassination attempts are very common. Sorcerers and demons are used during the fights from time to time.

Old West: Order is relatively non-existent in most towns. Strength and numbers often times determine who calls the shots. Gangs often form to overpower the law and they won't respond to anything else other than greater force.

Present Day: Fighting is seen as a form of entertainment, but to some, a little beyond that. Martial arts tournaments are held internationally where fighters compete to determine who is the strongest. Fighting, at the very least, doesn't determine who controls the land like in the other eras.

Near-Distant Future: A biker gang called the Crusaders roam the streets, generally causing chaos and mischief. The Japanese government, now essentially a police state, does little to stop them mostly because of their corruption. The people are friendly, but it's a time where characters ought to prepare before entering.

Distant Future: Technology has advanced to the point where artificial AI and robots are possible to create. Most operations are left to machines while some are distrustful of them.
Notes: As you can see, fighting means a lot in most of these eras. Any non-fighters probably wouldn't do so well in missions aside from in the Distant Future.
Additional Information: In every era, a new Demon King is born based on the conditions of the times. They're often named or called a different variation of “Odio” like “O-D-O”, “Odi Wang Lee”, “Ode Iou”, and such. Hatred is the main source of conflict in the eras and there's always someone or something to represent it.
