OOC REASON: At some point, Kyon's going to need a job that actually forces him to realize the grave nature of his work; having someone on a totally different world begin to manifest some of Haruhi/ki's reality manipulation capabilities would highlight something seriously amiss better than anything else. And if the job does not initially seem dangerous and turns out to BE so, even better. (Note that there is precedent for more than one person possessing that sort of power, but it doesn't really show up until late in the light novel series.)
